I am very pleased with the care I received from Dr. Joel Saal. I have a herniated disk, and I first saw a chiropractor, who was no help at all. I was then referred to Dr. Saal by a friend who had seen him for a herniated disk. I was in very bad shape and was not able to do anything. Dr. Saal did an MRI, treated me with cortizone, and referred me to a physical therapist whom he highly recommended. It is apparent that Dr. Saal is a perfectionist, but his staff seems to have great respect for him, and I certainly do. He takes his work very seriously, and while he is not a warm and fuzzy personality, his about his patients

I can't tell you how surprised I was to find no other comments on the brilliance of Dr. Joel Saal. I had endured excruciating and increasingly frequent severe back spasms due to a car accident in my teens for YEARS. I tried everything and thought I would have to live with constant pain, and the possibility of being unable to drive for fear of a spasm while driving. I went to the regular MD, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Accupuncture, and some PT and while some helped with momentary symptoms, none were able to reduce the frequency or severity of the spasms. I went to Dr. Saal thinking I would have more of the same, but after an MRI, he gave me an injection of Cortizone (of which I had already had several, though not with this precise delivery). I attended PT as soon as able, and followed up with another injection. That was now a couple of years ago, and the spasms are almost totally gone. He may not do as much hand holding as some would wish, but his ideas work. He cares and heals!

I feel Dr. Joel Saal did a terrific job helping me avoid some very invasive surgery. He treated a condition that other doctors had said would require fusion of several vertebrae with less invasive techniques, then when it became obvious I needed something else done, referred me to an excellent surgeon who performed a minimally invasive procedure that was much less drastic than fusion. Dr. Saal also does acupuncture, and is open to treatment modalities that do not fit the standard Western &quotchop shop&quot mentality. He seems to be a great believer in physical therapy and changing behaviors to lessen a patients pain.

Late, late, late. Obviously never looked at my medical history. Very unprofessional.

I read the review of Dr. Jeff Saal, and I have to say that his brother is very similar. I saw Dr. Saal for an EMG (a nerve conduction study), which cost $1100 out-of-pocket. He spent half an hour shocking me (which is what is required in the study), not looking at me once. He never shook hands, he completely ignored my husband, and discouraged any interaction by refusing to make eye contact and pausing a long time to answer questions. When I asked him to tell me his thoughts on the results of the EMG, he stated that because I was only seeing him for the EMG and another doctor was overseeing my case,"That would be at best, unhelpful, and at worst, disruptive." Not very reassuring, especially when you're not feeling well and you've been shocked for half-an-hour. All my other experiences with the SOAR medical group have been outstanding. I hope these guys don't drag down their reputation.
