My primary-care doctor asked Dr. David Lu what should be my treatment plan for elevated cholesterol. Without even suggesting the usefulness of diet or other lifestyle changes, Dr. Lu's only comment was "intense statins".

It raises the question of what kickbacks, if any, does Dr. Lu receive from the statin drug industry, for him to make such an inappropriate recommendation without even considering alternatives such as lifestyle changes instead of a drug that itself has a bad reputation.

Dr. Lu immediately discredited himself. I will have nothing further to do with any doctor whose thinking is so backwards that they feel statin drugs are the answer to problems that can be corrected with a ketogenic diet.
