Several of my students have been evaluated by this doctor. All were given a diagnosis of autism and none exhibit characteristics of this disorder. In one situation, I requested that we be given the opportunity to provide information regarding the student's daily functioning which would be essential to making an Dx of a spectrum disorder valid. When I was finally able to talk to the PA, she basically blew off any information we provided that didn't support their diagnosis of autism and became very defensive when I asked if they would be observing him in the school setting where he spends the majority of his waking hours. I have also never seen an evaluation report summarizing the findings of any of the assessments that have been done.

Our son has myoclonic seizures and was first diagnosed at Children's Mercy in KC. He was treated there for three years with his condition steadily worsening. He went from having a small eye twitch (age 3) to looking like a little old man with advanced Parkinsons. In the end Dr. Graff told us that we should prepare ourselves for him to continue to deteriorate until he was bed ridden and lost the ability to communicate. At that point we switched to Dr. Shah. He immediately started our son on the Keto Diet (not even considered at Children's Mercy) and refered him to the Cleaveland Clinic for advanced testing (again - not an option at CM). Our son has improved to the point that he has been seizure free for three years now. Dr Shah has met us at midnight in the ER during one emergancy and has ripped the staff at Wesley when our son's care was sub par. He is somewhat difficult to deal with, but his concern for his patient can not be questioned.

He treated my son for seizures...if you wanna call it treated. He told me a type of seizure my son was having was just muscle spasms. He was seizing nonstop which I didn't find out until I went to Children's mercy in KC. He didn't have very good people skills, and was always really late on hospital visits.

Dr. Shah treated my son for for seizures for many years. He is very capable and truely cared about my son and his symptoms. He had unusual seizures that other neurologists could not diagnose. We were treated with respect and courtesy. I was most impressed with his competency. I am an RN and I can tell you he is the ONLY peds neurologist I would take my family to see. My grandson, has just started having the same seizures as his Dad did. I know we will take him to Dr. Shah. The other 2 reviews were just plain WRONG.

Supposed to be good with children but has a terrible manner. If you ask him questions he treats you like you are stupid and it is an inconvenience for him to answer you. Hard to understand.
