Worst experience ever. Beware of this hysterectomy snappy freak. Benign ovarian cysts but even before my ultrasound he tells me to just "get rid of everything". Being a doctor he should be the first to know that ALL of the female organs are necessary for good healthy for life! Please research this, ladies, before losing an important part/parts of your body to make someone else money.

He was not a very good doctor. I only saw him twice before asking the staff at Women's Healthcare in Honesdale to never schedule a visit with him again. He sent me for blood work too early one time, and then left me in the office for at least 20 minutes while I could hear him chatting outside with a nurse. He also insisted that I have a c-section because having a baby could "ruin" my vagina. IS THAT NOT WANT A VAGINA IS MADE FOR? He does seem knowledgeable, but very cold, and would not know what to do in a real situation. I would gladly go to him for a broken arm, but a body part I find important... and a new life. Forget it. So glad the mid-wife was there for delivery. I had a natural birth, no pain meds, and NO C-SECTION. Bottom line?? Male doctors should never be obstetricians, they don't get it.

Dr. O'Brien is an awesome doctor! He quizzed me on my medications, blood type, and procedures to make sure I knew about my medical history and care. He never hesitated to do additional tests to monitor the baby and make sure everything was ok. We disagreed on a few things but he simply gave me his perspective and allowed me to make the decisions. Also, I loved the fact that he was not part of a larger practice in which I would have to see 5 different doctors. He knew me and my husband and it was great to have him as part of our first pregnancy. His staff is very, very kind and I looked forward to seeing them at my visits. Also, his wife, the nurse practitioner is so caring and went above and beyond to help me when I was having problems nursing my baby. I am heartbroken that they have left the Altoona area and I have to find a new practice :(

Dr. O'Brien delivered my daughter who is now 4 1/2. My reg. Dr. was out of town, and Dr. O'Brien was covering. He called me at home that very evening and told me that I needed to come in the next day for an amnio, and he decided that my daughter needed to be delivered the next day. Good thing because her cord was wrapped around her neck twice and tied in a true knot. Had we waited until my reg. Dr. was back from vacation, she could have died. I complained to my old Dr. that she was not moving and he told me she was just a big baby running out of room(she only weighed 5 pounds...), and even the Neonatologist in Johnstown somehow never caught there was something wrong!!I truly believe that if Dr. O'Brien would not have stepped in, she would have died. He's very knowledgeable, has a good sense of humor, and his staff are wonderful. I'm so glad to have found him!!

Dr. Obrien is a fantastic doctor. He cares about his patients and their needs. He listened to me and came up with a diagnosis and treatment options when no other doctor could figure it out. He even found out that i had lumps on my thyroid and sent me to a specialist and no other doctor before had thought to check my thyroid. thanks Dr. O!

Dr. O'Brien was very sensitive to my needs. I first went there pregnant for the fourth time without any successful pregnancies. I was scared and clueless as to what was going wrong. He went out of his way to reassure me everything was ok when it was and always talked to me straight! He did extensive testing and discovered what five different doctors in six years never did, I had a blood disorder. I now have two healthy daughters both delivered by him!!! One was a vaginal delivery and the other because of a breach presentation was by c-section. To me, Dr. O'Brien is like family and I wouldn't trust another doctor to care for me or my pregnancies. In a few years I plan to be back and pregnant with my third. If you want a wonderful doctor who cares about you and or your fetus this doctor is for you!!!
