After almost 2 years of bringing my child to see Dr. Ramanuja, I found a new allergist in town, who specializes in pediatrics. I had no idea there was one in town and had to find her on my own. She has been way more clear and helpful in one appointment than he had been during our entire experience with him.

After telling this doctor that we were transferring he says, "Yea I'd been thinking about referring you to her." So I asked why he hadn't told me about her sooner after he, himself, said that my child's case "is complicated" and that he "isn't comfortable doing food challenges with children younger than 5"....he kind of chuckles and says, "Well I guess I just don't like giving up so easily."

I wonder how many more skin prick tests he would have put my child through/made us pay for before he was going to "give up" and refer us to someone better suited for the job.

What I wish I would have thought to say to him in that conversation: Nice job making this about you and your ego/paycheck and not putting my child's needs first.

I hope he reads this and I hope that he, in the future, refers more young patients that he isn't comfortable treating properly, before he wastes any of their time.
