I received a clavicle surgical repair done by Dr. Scott Ruhlman. He did an excellent job. After 6 weeks it is healing well and the x-ray shows I am on my way to a full recovery. I had asked for a referral to a PT since I had a lot of soft tissue damage from a cycling crash. No problem. I came into my followup visit and showed him all the areas of soft tissue damage on my left side related to the injury. He listened attentively and gave me some good comments, encouraging me to proceed with some strength training. He told me that he would renew the PT prescription if I need it following the first series. I will see him again in 2 months. So far so good!

Botched a routine wrist surgery which resulted in months of pain until another surgeon repaired the nerve damage inflicted. This doctor has a "target fixation" problem. I have three distinct issues and was very clear about them. Even after the surgery he would not pay attention to the other two issues. As it turns out, his method (known by other surgeons) of taking a length of tendon is not one used by any other surgeon I have spoken with. His method caused a very painful scaring of the radial nerve which radiated over the top of the hand like a very painful sunburn. I had the pain starting from the time of recovery until after I had to have a resection and another painful recovery. Over 6 months of pain and very hypersensitivity to any touch from the wrist over the nearly full extent of the top part of the hand....dorsum. It turns out this is typical of an actual injury of the radial nerve and indicative of a forming neuroma. By the way, I had to point out these facts to him!!!

He injected two pain sites which exacerbated the pain. He did not account for my being on a blood thinner and seemed to sluff off the complications by telling me that he had just done a like surgery for an older woman who did fine. It was like....well it worked for others........

The other two issues are a large osteophyte at the base of the index and thumb bone structure intersection near the wrist and another smaller spur and tendon pulley involving the joint where the thumb meets the palm on the palm side.

I had to go to another orthopedic surgeon who resectioned the nerve and actually listened and worked to solve the other issues. He had cat scans which Ruhlman never hinted at, although Ruhlman had routine X-rays.

Never again...never!!
