I have been to countless physicians for spastic hemiplegic CP. As an adult in my late 20s moving to a new city, I was looking forward to a consultation and Dr Stark was highly recommended. Since my CP is largely unnoticeable unless I indicate to certain areas, I have to be firm on my questions, and ‘prove’ my disability is legit. Dr Stark quickly grew defensive as I advocated for myself. I believe the patient must advocate for them self—who else will? Dr Stark also brought in 3 interns, without asking for my permission and I instantly felt as if I were being judged by 4 people. She very quickly interrupted me (several times!) and didn’t attempt to answer my questions, instead reverberating the same unhelpful things. She made me feel like my issues weren’t conducive to even her time and I left the appointment feeling completely defeated. Ultimately, she sent me to PT at Vandy. My appt was in June 2018 with Dr Stark, and the first available PT slot was in Nov 2018. This is totally unacceptable! Thankfully, I reached out to another physician and have just completed successful PT at a separate clinic. I ultimately believe that Dr Stark did not believe I have a disability, despite being unable to walk on my left heel as a child and undergoing several corrective surgeries. I can’t recommend her.
