Her staff seems distracted and appear to be working very hard just to do very simple clerical tasks.

The doctor is competent, but very superficial. An entire exam takes less than three minutes. She does look for major problems, but beyond that expects you to tell her what spots you'd like to have frozen or removed.

Then, if anything major needs to be done, she refers you to another doctor in her practice who charges several thousand dollars to do very precise removal. That referral takes 4-6 weeks to set up.

If you are on an unlimited budget or have insurance that covers every last dollar, then you may find this a good arrangement. However, if you have to pay out of your own pocket, you can find much more economical alternatives to this doctor, and get equivalent or better care.

I sure wouldn't go back.

I've used Dr. Maldonado for a number of years, especially after a spot she found turned out to be cancerous. She is punctual and efficient (which other raters appear to consider "cold"), and I find her to be quite personable and interested in what's happening with my body. I recommend her to friends. She's young and stays current on dermatology and available treatments.

I was 20 at the time and I wanted to get a good check up because I was leaving my job and didn't know how long I would be without insurance. I rated her staff as good because they were very nice. I asked how much it would cost, but they acted like it wasn't important. I had a brown spot on my back (about 1cm diameter). I was very nervous about it. I was under the impression that she would cut off the whole thing for testing but she only shaves off a tinny piece of it (3-4mm). I asked her to look for any other things that looked suspicious. It took her literally five seconds. Then she was gone. I asked the staff how much I owed and they said they had my insurance and everything was fine. I received an outrageous bill in the mail which I had to pay for out of pocket. The spot looks worse than it did. White in the middle and brown on the edges. I'm very scared about it. She never called to ask how I was doing, or about how the spot looks. Overall I was very dissatisfied with Dr Maldonado.

I found Dr. Maldonado to be a bit rushed and not very approachable. I am sure she is a competent doctor but I just did not feel that she was very interested in helping me get to the cause of my skin issues. I saw her sister, Dr. Janet Maldonado, on my next visit (and on all following visits) and found her to be much more approachable and helpful in not only easing my discomfort, but also in finding the cause and the solution to my months-long skin irritations.

I visited Dr. Maldonado's office to have a suspicious but tiny bump on my forehead looked at. Was not at all expecting to have it 'cut out' on the spot. It hurt like heck despite the supposed anesthetic shot to numb it. Went home and cried from the pain for over 24 hours. Father in-law had the same experience. He was left with a gaping quarter sized hole in his left temple which horrified him and he too, suffered terribly afterwards. She is polite but to a stiff, cold point. Not at all communicative. Terrible bedside manner for a doctor. Second appointment was for nothing but to be told the cells collected were 'pre-cancerous.' Could have been told by phone. Not a pleasant experience all around.

I saw Dr Maldanado for a suspicious freckle. She was nice enough, but apparently I didn't understand that "taking a look at" the freckle meant cutting it off. I now have a scar on my arm. (Better than cancer sure, but not a choice that I was informed enough to make at the time.) She left the room before I had a chance to ask any questions. Her office called me with the results that my freckle "was just a little bit of pre-cancer" and that I needed to make a follow up appointment. The word cancer was all that I heard, again not understanding that every freckle could be considered pre-cancer. Apparently the call wasn't intended to freak me out, but it did. At my follow up visit, Dr Maldanado took a very quick look (and I mean a glance) at my missing freckle and was done with me. I felt like I'd been tricked in for a second $200 cash visit. Dr Maldanado might be a fine doctor, but she was rushed and not a very good communicator. I will not see her again.
