It is with a heavy heart that I am posting this. I previously worked for Dr. Magarelli while he had his own practice, half a year before he had to sell to CNY. It was rough working for him. I would do everything I could to follow everything he said, his assistant Adrienne would still come to me with complaints and would let me take the blame for it when she was the one who told me to do it that way. Even down to a patient claiming to Dr. Magarelli directly that I didn’t check his ID at a follow up appointment, but I had already scanned 2 of his IDs at his first appointment and pulled them up while I was verifying 2 patient identifiers at check in. I knew every single one of my patients on a personal level, so much that the phone number to the clinic literally showed up as my name on peoples cell phones when I called. But I was a scapegoat as an employee at the end of the day since I was bottom of the barrel, even though I was working for free very often at home, on top of gaining my LPN while I was employed so I could take stress off of the nursing staff by being able to do simple tasks such as BC rx’s or prior auths since they were absolutely overworked. On top of that, he knew since January 2020 and maybe even sooner that he was selling his clinic to CNY and it was going to be almost 1/3 of his price. Yet when he reopened his clinic in April after the initial Covid scare, we were forced to push everyone to pay the more expensive price and weren’t allowed to mention anything about CNY, even if the patient asked. Morally, I couldn’t handle that. As far as my own cycle went with Dr. Magarelli, I went through IVF with him as well while I was employed by him. My first negative experience was getting a scope done, he claimed I was exaggerating about the pain while the camera was fully inside of me, joking about how I neglected to take my Tylenol while I was yelling in pain. Nowadays it’s protocol to put a woman completely out under general anesthesia cuz the pain is recognized as severe. My only infertility was that I had my tubes tied. They claimed my husbands sample was all goose eggs, but when he did another analysis at another clinic a week later it was all 100s. Another nurse in the clinic who was going through IVF with him as well confided in me that she had the same experience with her husbands samples. Even one of the embryologists admitted that the dye they use to see sperm more clearly kills most of them anyways. I was pushed to do my egg retrieval a day or 2 early. Even all of the nursing staff agreed that I should not have gone so early, that they all knew I was not ready and Dr. Magarelli made that decision all the time with a ton of patients to make it fit into his schedule, as he only left 4 or 5 days apart a month for egg retrievals since it would bother with appointment times. My one normal embryo was successful and he’s a beautiful 2 year old. But my mosaic was a failure and I can’t blame it solely on his mosaicism. I asked for the exact same protocol as the first success since it obviously worked so well for me, but I was refused by every single nurse and was denied every chance to talk to an actual MD. I requested Dr. Magarelli again since I figured he would remember me but he didn’t. Im not sure how others claim he remembers them because it’s very obvious his “how have you been” questions are only being asked because “prior patient” is listed on our charts. He didn’t remember that he had met my son a few months prior, didn’t remember I worked for him, nothing. I don’t trust him as a person, nor a boss, nor a doctor. He’s failed me personally at every corner.
