I noticed my father’s stomach double in size over a few months. I had to request that he identify the cause drain his stomach if it is ascites. My father asked him about the drainage and he told my father that if he drained it, it will only come back. Then he increased my father’s diuretic medication. This Dr. did not explain the affect of this liquid buildup, nor did he express concern over the pain it was causing my father and the impact it was having on his daily life. The MRI and Ultrasound showed severe ascites. My father had 9 liters of liquid drained from his abdomen two weeks after first requesting it. I am on seriously overwhelmed and looking for a new oncologist.

He was my husbands oncologist for 5 years. He was seeing my husband for carcinoid of the liver. My husband started losing lots of weight and was in severe pain in his back and on his right side. My husband was seen by Dr sung every 28 days and I even begged Dr Sung to please tell me why my husband was in so much pain. Dr sung told me that it was just muscle strain and so I believed him. This was after my husband had a lung collapse. I asked dr sung why my husbands lung collapsed and he said he didn’t know. I took my husband to the ER where they did an MRI and found a lung mass 10 times the size it was right after the lung collapse. I took my husband to another ER where he was immediately given a blood transfusion since his hemoglobin was .06. My husband died two weeks later. If only I had taken him to a different doctor. I suffer the guilt of believing this incompetent doctor who caused my husband to die

He had my brother, with advanced stage 4 cancer of the liver, bile duct and spine, make a long trip from Nassau County to the city to have an mri and cat scan. A few days later he had to make that arduous and painful trip back to see Dr. Sung to get the results. When we got there, WE FOUND DR. SUNG HAD NOT EVEN TAKEN A LOOK AT THE TESTS AND COULD NOT READ THE CAT SCAN BECAUSE OF EDEMA. IN ADDITION, THE RESULTS OF THE MRI WERE NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. Also, it was apparent that my brother was having enormous problems breathing. Even though there was so much edema the cat scan was not readable, Sung proceeded to send my brother back to Nassau County instead of admitting him right then and there. That night my brother went into respiratory failure and had to be taken on an emergency basis to a nearby hospital where now, near death, a team of doctors worked of him vigorously in order to revive him. As a result he had to undergo acute and invasive procedures to relieve the edema. We were told that the enormous physical strain of the trips back and forth to Mt. Sinai had triggered the respiratory failure. HAD SUNG HAD ENOUGH CONSCIOUSNESS AND PRESENCE OF MIND TO REVIEW THE TESTS FIRST, HE COULD HAVE SAVED MY BROTHER FROM FURTHER SUFFERING INSTEAD OF MAKING IT WORSE. My brother remains in the hospital. We do not know where he stands as now he cannot speak. I do not recommend this doctor to anyone. He is as insensitive and uninvolved as it gets.
