Biography

I have worked as a physician for the past 40 years, graduating from medical school in June 1976. Since then, I have gained an extensive experience in clinical practice, medical education, research, and administration in multiple specialties in various parts of the world. After my medical education and post graduate training in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, I moved to the United States in 1995. I completed my Family Medicine residency training at the Texas Tech University, El Paso in 1998. After this, I worked as a family physician in an employee position for four years in Fort Wayne, Indiana before accepting the offer to start a new private practice in Pecos, west Texas in July 2002. After 4 years of a successful solo practice there, I moved to southwest Dallas County to be close to my friends and family, in a city where I hope to live and work until I retire. I have also held part-time positions in urgent care centers and ER’s including locum tenens work in New Mexico and Indiana. These experiences have enriched my clinical perspective, allowing me to understand the complexity of medical practice in different parts of the United States. Before my Family Practice training in the United States, I was board certified in England (United Kingdom) in Obstetrics and Gynecology, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College in that specialty. This double specialization allows me to extend my expertise beyond that of the average family physician. Apart from English, I speak three international languages: French, Arabic, and Spanish. My multilingual skills allow me to communicate with patients of different cultural backgrounds. My extra-curricular activities include keeping fit, literature, fine art (pencil, watercolor & acrylic on canvas), and literature including writing articles for the county medical society bulletin. I enjoy community activities. I am married, with a total of four children. My eldest daughter, Yetsy, has just completed her residency in Internal Medicine, while my older son Olaide, graduated from Baylor University Law School and is a computer scientist. In January 2012, my wife Kim and I were blessed with the birth of twin babies, Dara (girl) and Deji (boy) who keep me busy. My current solo practice in south Dallas is now mostly office based with only 7% devoted to nursing home visits at the Desoto Nursing home where I am the Medical Director. I also supervise home health patients. Although my past experiences have included cesarean sections, gynecological surgery, newborn nursery care, and emergency department coverage, I now perform only minor outpatient office procedures. In addition to my clinical expertise, I have extensive experience in teaching and research. I continue to serve as preceptor to health professionals in training, including medical students, resident physicians, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners as part of my service to the community. With my sense of adventure, ability to face challenges, and ease of cultural assimilation, I am confident that, for the next decade until I retire, I will be able to continue to provide the comprehensive, cost-effective, compassionate and ethical health care to my patients that is the hallmark of a good family physician
