I would not recommend this doctor or his staff to treat you with proper care that could save a life. Mental illness/PTSD/ is what I suffer from. Trying to call to make an appointment is difficult when dealing with Mrs. Allison. We set the appointment up and when the appointment date comes, she will either call early or late. She can never call you when its your appointment time. As my appointment time comes close I'll look at me phone and saw that she called. I call har back and she will purposely not answer my call. I put my phone in private mode where she can't see my number and BAM, Mrs. Allison answers my phone call. This has happened several times.

Mrs. Allison can't be trusted to get you the help that is needed by your doctor. Mrs. Allison talks about clients after they leave as I was standing at the counter waiting to get another appointment. Mrs. Allison will purposely not answer your phone call. Mrs. Allison is rude, not considerate about your concerns, talks down to patients.

Most of all is "I" feel like an option in this equation.

He has been taking care of my mom for many years. When he moved his practice from Centralia to Belleville it went down hill. My dad before he passed had tried to reach out to him as he was supposed to be treating some very serious … More

I called to make an appointment because my Doctor up and quit with no warning! The receptionist wasn’t very friendly and acted as though she preferred I go elsewhere. I guess i’ll try to wean myself off of my meds I’ve been taking for about 10 years. Wish me luck!🙏

Dr. Chalfant is an excellent Psychiatrist who cares about his patients' welfare and mental health. His sessions are short and to the point. You start with a couple of screening surveys. He only prescribes meds that he believes will work for … More

Honestly I think giving 1 star is being very generous. When I went to the appointments, he acted very uninterested. I tried to open up and tell him how I was feeling and the symptoms I had. He literally ignored everything I had to say. He … More

Don't go to this doctor. He won't know your history, your name, or even what he himself has prescribed for you or taken you off of. I was literally seeing him about every 3 weeks when I had severe symptoms, and he couldn't remember … More

He has been taking care of my mom for many years. When he moved his practice from Centralia to Belleville it went down hill. My dad before he passed had tried to reach out to him as he was supposed to be treating some very serious illnesses. He would never take his calls which led to some pretty tense and dangerous situations. When he passed I moved home to help her and I could see things getting very bad. I tried to reach our to him left several messages which he never returned my calls and twice before this last incident I couldn't leave a message because his voice mailbox was full. It lead to her getting very sick and becoming even more of a danger to herself and every one around her. It ended with a involuntary three week stay for mom and the only way he knew is because of a fax that I sent begging for him to help and the doctors of the hospital she was at. I then find nine months of consecutive prescriptions of some very serious anti psychotic meditations that were authorized by him. FOUR of the bottles were never opened, two were were three quarters full and one half full. I took pictures of all it. He was renewing these from short 15 minute phone sessions which she was not truthful about and when all hell was breaking through my pleads for help were ignored. I think it's only fair to say because of his incompetence he could be more dangerous than the illness people suffer from.

They have lost their empathy for the patient. Seemed burnt out to me.

I am a Bi-Polar Individual (over 30 yrs)
I have been Receiving Care with Dr. Chalfant for Six years.
I was Very Disappointed to find out that when I Needed to talk to him,
He was Unavailable and the Staff was Unconcerned.
I Yelled at the lady who answered the phone because I was in Acute Mania.
That Banned Me from Getting the Treatment that I Had Been Going There For!
Twice phoned in to talk to Dr. Chalfant. No Follow-up.

Dr Chalfant added a medication that helped. But I wonder if he is only interested in making money. I had a telephonic appointment due to the Covid pandemic. The office called two minutes ahead of time but I missed the call. I returned the call literally within 2 minutes and was told that I would have to reschedule as the doctor had moved on to the next client.
At the next appointment I addressed the issue with the doctor and he told me that he wasn't going to discuss it with me and that I could find another doctor if I didn't like it.
I think this is unreasonable and shows a lack of respect.
Be prepared because they routinely call ahead of the scheduled appointment time and they will move on if you don't answer when they call.

I've had mental health issues all my life and have worked a with a few different psychiatrists. I had to change to Dr Chalfant for insurance reasons 3yrs ago. I found him very difficult to connect with or talk to. As an example, the whole time I've been his patient he has only smiled a hand full of times- there is something wrong there. He is distant and cold and can't even keep track of his patients health issues. I though over time thing would improve but at this point he's is no different my first visit. How can you be a psychiatrist if you can't connect with people?

The staff is incompetent and of zero help. Leave them a message and they say they didn't get it. This has happened twice.

This doctor was worse than no help!! My mother is his patient. After the death of my father a year and a half ago, her depression, paranoia and other issues have been getting increasingly out of control. I have spoken to the staff about her condition twice, and never was allowed to speak to the actual dr or give a full list of symptoms and events that happened. The second time i initiated contact, I was told there is no other resources for help; he tried to increase a drug. If that doesn't help and if I can't handle her problems I should admit her to St. Elizabeth's. The week after that phone call, she told me the dr said she is doing better and did not have to go back for 6 months. I think this Dr is also losing touch with reality...
