On the day my son was discharged from the hospital (a Saturday) I was told that I needed to see his pediatrician first thing Monday morning regarding his jaundice in order for them to allow us to be discharged. At this time, my insurance only had one pediatric doctor option in the network, Dr. Bangash. I called the minute they opened on Monday morning and after being on hold for 15 minutes finally was able to make an appointment. They insisted that they could not see me that day (Monday). I explained to them that I was a new mother and that the only way I had been discharged from the hospital with my son was if I promised to take him into the doctor first thing Monday. Still the lady I spoke with insisted that they could not see me until Tuesday afternoon. I scheduled the appointment. When we arrived at the office we were not greeted right away, and stood there waiting for someone to speak with us. Finally the receptionist gave us paperwork to fill out. We waited over 30 minutes to even get called back into the exam room. The nurse advised us to undress our son, which we did. Once she left the room we then again waited almost 20 minutes for the doctor to come into the room. His bedside manor was lacking, we could hardly understand the questions he was asking us, and he was having trouble putting his information into his computer system. He needed to call in a nurse to show him how to input the information. I informed him that we needed a bilirubin test conducted on our son (which is what the hospital told us we needed). He told us that after looking at our son he did not think we needed to have the test done. I told him that I wanted to have the test done as we were advised to have it done. He gave us a hard time but said that he would order the test if our insurance approved it. He advised us to wait in the waiting room while the reception contacted our insurance. We waited over an hour with a brand new baby before they finally told us that the insurance company had not gotten back to them. I asked what we could do to get this test completed and they said I had to wait for the insurance company to approve. They called me the next day advising that it was approved and we scheduled the test immediately. After this horrible experience, I never went back, and would highly recommend for anyone considering Dr. Bangash think twice. It was by far the worst medical experience I have ever had. Not only that, but I received a bill a year after the appointment to pay the entire visit as apparently my insurance did not cover it. The fact that it took them a year to bill us speaks again to their inefficiency, disorganization, horrible patient care, and lack of customer service. STAY AWAY!
