I have found Dr. Merrell and his staff to be most helpful, courteous and professional at each visit. Dr. Merrell is patient and offers various options for treatment and explains each option in detail and offers encouragement when necessary for those of us who have serious issues. I am extremely pleased with my treatment and would highly recommend him to anyone suffering from prostrate issues.

Normally I do not rate physicians on the Web but when I saw Dr Merrell's other review I had to speak up. Without getting into too much detail Dr Merrell has treated me for 3 urological cancers. One very rare. When I first went to him we discussed treatment options. He has always been open to informed discussions and open dialog. He referred me to Moffit Cancer center and I now go to both he and Moffitt. I will only speak very highly of him. Always up with the latest treatments, studies and options. Willing to discuss the issues as an equal if you are an educated consumer. I have always felt I could talk to him and choose the best options for me with his help.

I found Dr Merrell to be rude, egotistical, and arrogant. He appeared unprepared to discuss my problems and to not even be aware that I’d had tests done. His statement to me was, “Oh well you are a woman of a certain age and when women enter that time of life you often have such problems.” If you are a woman I can’t warn you strongly enough to beware of this Dr.!! He comes off as unknowledgeable about women’s urology health and covers it up with laughter, sarcasm and statements of, “it’s just menopause.”
