This butcher did a spinal fusion on me in 2018. I was unable to walk for 3 years, until April, 2021. Seems to be that the pain which caused "The Butcher" Guanciale to fuse my spine was a very bad HIP! Had that properly diagnosed and replaced this April and I can now walk. It must be up to his patients to be properly diagnosed elsewhere to get the proper care. Patients, Beware!

Heart patients beware. Had to use crutches to go to my 1 yr follow up visit. He ignored my failed surgery symptoms to tell me about his work. When asked for help to walk he did not answer and walked out of room like a spoiled child. He has signed my death cert. The constant stress and depression of his life altering surgery has intensified my heart failure. Over 2 yrs later, still unable to walk without walker. He made his money. I got a death sentence. I should have read the negative comments before allowing him near me. Run away fast.

Dr. Guanciale is very arrogant and self absorbed. His priority is on himself and his technique only. He is not a patient focused physician. Once he's done with you, you are on your own. Be sure to get a second opinion lest you receive unnecessary surgery.

De. G is great. He did surgery on my back 15 years apart and it saved my life. After the first spinal fusion i was cutting grass and very active. 15yrs later an expansion of the spinal fusion totally eliminated the pain in my leg and discomfort when standing and sleeping. If i needed attention to my spine and he was in coldwater Mississippi...i would go there to be treated by him

I was disappointed. I was seen twice and both times felt the doctor was dismissive. I complained about other parts of my back hurting but he only wanted to focus on my neck. I was told by office staff that they only focus on one issue at a time. What? If a patient has multiple issues with their spine, they're out of luck? I'm definitely going to another orthopedic doctor.

In September 2015 I had Dr Guanciale for L4-L5 L5-S1 360 spinal fusion surgery(as well as some other smaller things that went along with it). I had severe pain in lower back/upper buttocks with numbness down my leg. I have to say Dr Guanciale is a wonderful surgeon. I have zero of the symptoms I had prior to my surgery. I won't candy coat it and tell you that it's a breeze, it's not. I don't usually write reviews but felt the need because Dr Guanciale gave me my life back.

Dr Guanciale is a gifted and passionate surgeon. He is sensitive to the needs of his patients. He does not rush through an examination but takes the time to fully answer your questions. He completed a necessary 9-level spinal fusion to correct severe adult scoliosis and did an amazing job. I would highly recommend him.

AVOID THIS DOCTOR IF POSSIBLE. I had seen Guanciale several times, had epidurals, and then came back 9 months later to see what other options were available. He seemed insulted that I inquired about treatments such as radiofrequency ablation or pain blocks. He stated “I’m a surgeon. I don’t perform these procedures nor do I know anything about them”. He tried to get me out of his office as quickly as possible.
He has absolutely no personality at all. He doesn’t make or even try to make you feel welcome. He’s like a robot.

Poor bedside manner. Expected to do physical therapy and exercise for an extended amount of time which is impossible due to the condition. Went to see this doctor to fix the problem because of being unable to exercise or do physical therapy. He talked in circles and appeared to not be concerned of the problem. X-rays and MRI for one thing but talked about a completely different thing when he came into the examination room.
