I fell in November taking my garbage out. I was rushed to a trauma hospital because they said this was considered a trauma as I had broke my femur. The next morning Dr. Kilbride operated on my leg. The following day I had no pain and continued during my healing to have no pain. he showed me the x-rays every time I went in for a visit and told me how it was doing and asked if I needed to ask him anything. I think he’s probably one of the best surgeons I have ever had or known. My recovery time was two months. he wrote a prescription for me to have PT. I did all six weeks. From the time my leg broke until it healed was four months. I would highly recommend him.

I came to him with a shoulder that had been crushed in a traumatic fall. After the trauma/orthopedic surgeon that I originally saw in ER at a teaching facility told me it was beyond repair and to go home with it as is.

From my encounter with Earl Kilbride, he is a narcissistic orthopedic surgeon who SELECTIVELY maltreats some patients based on class, race, and gender. I would not recommend him to ANYONE.

I fell on 5/27/23 and dislocated my right ankle. When I arrived at the hospital, x-rays were taken. The attending ER physician Dr. Crislip, on-call surgeon Dr. Kilbride, radiologist concluded that I ALLEGEDLY had a trimalleolar fracture. However, NONE of the doctors previously mentioned CONSULTED me PRIOR to the surgery on 5/28/23. I had no proof or evidence that I had trimalleolar fracture; except the WORD of the physicians. As the patient, I was entitled to a second opinion. I have the RIGHT to CONSULT with another physician. I also had the right to elect to NOT have the surgery.

Earl Kilbride also DID NOT provide an outline of the surgery procedure that he was performing including my post-op recovery timeline. My hospital post-op visit with Earl Kilbride lasted less than 20 seconds, which should be a Guinness Book record. During this visit, he still DID NOT show me my X-ray images before and after the surgery. On 6/12/23, I had a post-op appointment with Kilbride in his office and I waited over 45 minutes to be seen by him. He still DID NOT show me ALL x-ray images of my foot and ankle. Kilbride also couldn't tell me why my right foot is now wider than left foot when I
asked him. I told him it was never like that before this surgery. Nor could he explain why my right leg doesn't align (parallel) with my left leg when I stand up.

On 7/9/23 during emergency room visit for continuous swelling, pain, & a slight infection, I was finally SHOWN the X-rays taken that day 7/9/23. It's been 9 weeks and 3 days (66 days) and Kilbride has NOT shown me my X-ray images. Kilbride's FAILURE to CONSULT and show me my X-rays PRIOR to the surgery leads me to believe that the surgery was UNNECESSARY. :-(

Earl Kilbride, he is a narcissistic orthopedic surgeon who SELECTIVELY maltreats some patients based on class, race, and gender. I would not recommend him to ANYONE.

Absolutely the worst care I have ever received. As a health care provider myself I understand how to treat people who are experiencing pain and this was not it! The staff was rude. The PA was incompetent and Dr. Kilbride was condescending and dismissive.

texas ortho ruined my life. They kept telling me I didn’t need surgery, then after 7months dr. Kilbride did the wrong surgery and caused nerve damage. Now i am in constant pain and have very little use of my right arm. I am an artist and cannot make art. I am a golfer and cannot play golf as well as almost everything else. my prognosis is not good. It is doubtful that i will ever gain use of my arm. DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE. i had to give it one star to enter this but i would give it negative stars if i could. He is no longer at this practice but he is not the only doctor at fault here.

I fell and injured my foot/ ankle 4months ago today. Because I don’t have health insurance, I was hesitant to go to the doctor and tried to home-remedy it for a few weeks post injury. After 7wks, I realized it wasn’t getting better so I asked for recommendations on Orthopedic Surgeons in the Austin, TX area. Dr. Earl Kilbride Jr came up as a reco for a few people so I trusted that he would be a good fit. That was the worst health decision I have ever made.

After waiting over an hour after my appointment time, Dr. Earl Kilbride Jr walks in, points to my boot/ crunches and says "Well, that boots' not gonna work for you", asks me what happened and says he is going to go look at the x-rays and leaves the room. I was timing his visit with me because I felt that I had been forgotten about while I was waiting for him and he spent 27seconds in the room with me. Less than 3 minutes later, Dr. Earl Kilbride Jr comes back, physically assesses my foot for 3 exercises, shows me what bones are broken with the diagram on the wall and tells me I need to rest. He then signs my paper, places it on the table by the door and leaves the room without saying another word… 34 seconds was the time he spent with me the second time; equally less than 2min total!
I was flushed from crying out of frustration; when leaving the room, my dad (who was waiting for me in the lobby) asked me what was wrong and I told him that I had no real answers and that I never want to come back. I told him I felt neglected in kind of medical care by Dr. Earl Kilbride Jr gave me. My dad demanded we see the doctor again. Dr. Earl Kilbride Jr came back and said "I assumed she was fine because she wasn't wearing her boot." At that time is when he recommended I get a different model boot, rest for the next 6months and a follow-up appointment was not necessary.
Upon leaving, we spoke to the office manager and told her what happened and she apologized and said "Dr. Earl Kilbride Jr is a trauma doctor. He probably saw you and didn't see you in a traumatic state and assumed you were fine."

After that horrible experience, I got a second opinion. The new provider said I needed surgery, and no amount of rest would have cured the injury properly. I ended up needing 6 screws and 2 plates put in. I’m out for another 6-9wks and I do feel that if Dr. Earl Kilbride Jr would have assessed me in the proper and most professional way, this wouldn’t be the case. I also made a complaint with the Texas Medical Board on Dr. Earl Kilbride Jr and they denied my complaint for further assessment and found that he did nothing wrong.

That word ASSUME is one of the most unprofessional words that a medical professional should ever use. If it weren't for my dad, Dr. Earl J. Kilbride would have allowed me to leave his facility without a proper boot and proper expectation of a plan of action. Who wants to pay a ridiculous medical bill or use their insurance funds on doctors who assume instead of using their medical professional degree???

He performed an ACL recunstruction surgery on my knee with a cadaver tendon and it has gone great. I waited until I was done with rehab to give a good assessment. Recovery was amazing as they used an ON-Q system for pain management for the first three days. After that I was able to get to rehab quickly and the rest was between me and my PT. He was Knowledgeable and and explained my procedure. He spent enough time and was personable, which so many doctors do not do.

Dr. Kilbride reconstructed my left knee from a motorcycle accident. It destroyed the top 3" of the large bone in the calf. He had to manufacture a funnel and attach it to the lower part of bone that was left. I do not know how I could have been any luckier that he was on staff when they brought me to the emergency room, and later performed the surgery. While I was afraid I would never walk Dr. K assured me I would play golf again. I am playing again and have a single digit handicap. It may get better but someone will have to convince me of that.
