I was severely scare of intraveinous anesthesia. Dr hershkin calmed me down and proceeded to remove two wisdom teeth while I was awake. Took no more than 3 minutes total. Completely painless and absolutely no sort of axiety during the removal process. Writing this review outside the office rhe service was so great. Highly reccomend everyone use this oral surgeon. He also graduated from my university!

Thank you doctor, any teeth issues in the future and I will be right back!

I give 2 stars because he seems like he is a competent oral surgeon.

However, I feel like a sap and a sucker after going for the *MANDATORY* consultation.

We were referred to Dr. Hershkin by my son's dentist to have a baby molar extracted. Because all of the records and information and x-rays were available from the dentist, I called up to set up an extraction. I was told I'd have to come in for a brief, but mandatory, "consultation" - just to discuss the risks involved with anesthesia.

After sitting for 45+ minutes past the appointment time, the doctor comes in, looks at the x-rays and gives me 5 minutes of information that could have easily been conveyed via telephone. He had the x-rays from the regular dentist, looked in my son's mouth once, visually without any instruments, totaling less than 30 seconds, and we were done.

I'm then told at the front desk that this mandatory consultation is billed as an exam, and that the insurance won't cover it. $175 out of pocket for an "exam" where he examined nothing. I asked why no one had mentioned this absurd fee (and the fact that they wouldn't even try insurance) during my 4 telephone calls with the staff in setting up, rescheduling, and confirming the appointments, and they said "we are usually very good about that." They are 0 for 4, as far as my experience - not a great track record.

It might not be illegal, it might not even be that uncommon, but the mandatory "consultation" is a legalized swindle and a cheap way to gouge patients out of an extra $175.

I am the first to admit I should have asked about the cost of the consultation, and I did not. My naivete and prior experience with honest and ethical dental practices just cost me $175, which is why I feel like the latest mark in a long-running scam.

A fantastic Dr. with a thorough understanding of jaw issues and a preference toward less aggressive means of treatment before more drastic measures. While many - especially surgeons - immediately opt for surgery as the first and only method for everything, Dr. Herskin prefers to start with a more therapeutic approach - and it works! He and his staff are attentive, take time with you and are just plain nice, something not often seen in doctors offices - which are so rushed these days. He's a wonderful find!

I went to see Dr. Hershkin for my TMJ problems. He was extremely helpful since he suffers from TMJ himself and understood everything I said. He was very kind and caring. He also keeps up-to-date on all the latest TMJ health news. If you have a TMJ problem, I recommend Dr. Hershkin.

Dr. Hershkin & his staff are awesome. I have always been extremely adverse to pain, so it was no surprise that I waited as long as possible to deal with my wisdom teeth. But when the pain was so bad that I couldn't eat Thanksgiving turkey, I was at least thankful to be referred to Dr. Hershkin. The doctor and his staff (especially Michelle) are amazing! They squeezed me in the day after Thanksgiving (how's that for dedication?!) and we scheduled my surgery to remove my two left wisdom teeth for the following Monday. I was incredibly nervous, but both Dr. Hershkin and Michelle calmed me through the process and soon I was fast asleep courtesy of a wonderful drug called anesthesia. The surgery was brief and although waking up wasn't as fun as falling asleep, the pain was far less than I had anticipated. I even went to work the next day with minimal discomfort. Surgery is never fun, but given the circumstances, it couldn't have been better! A++ to the entire team!
