I came to Dr. Courtney after experiencing medical abuse and neglect from my primary care provider. I stated this fact at the very beginning of the appointment, and went on to say that as a result of the neglect, there were a lot of things I needed done medically. She responded that these were "demands" and it was "awkward" that I wanted to be involved in my care. She was so abrasive that my medical advocate started to pack up after 15 minutes, and Dr. Courtney actually called her out on it, then asked if she was recording. The only reason I didn't leave then is because she reeled me back in by agreeing to some of the testing that I actually needed.
She also defended my pain clinic treating me in half-measures and prescribing me opiates, but not at a level where I could function, without knowing the situation at all.
I reiterated at one point the medical abuse I experienced and she replied in the most flat, disaffected tone ever that what I went through is terrible, and other such platitudes, but nothing about her behavior changed.
The techs are lovely people, and the in-house diagnostics are great, but they're not worth the cost of dealing with this absolute nightmare of a physician. I don't think I would trust any of the other physicians that Dr. Courtney hired. If your medical issues are complex and/or you want an active role in your own care, steer clear of this one. This is a physician who feels threatened by patients who advocate for themselves.

Dr. Courtney has been my doctor for 20m plus years ad i have never had any of the problems that I have read in these reviews. I'm wondering if the problem might be them.
She is always courteous and professional and concerned about what is going on with my health. She takes time to explain my lab results--which none of my other doctors did or do--and answers all my questions. She even answered questions about my family members who are not her patients and found things their family doctors missed..What doctor does that? Does your family doctor do that for you? If you want a complete exam and follow up care from a doctor who cares about you and your healthy, who keeps up with all the latest medical findings then she is for you. If you want a pill pusher who isn't interestred in finding or helping the cause of your problem, then you need to go to someone else. SHE IS WHAT A TRUE FAMILY DOCTOR SHOULD BE!!

I have never had such a complete medical history taken or such a complete medical exam as the one I received from Dr. Courtney. She found some things that I did not realize that were wrong and she got it corrected by sending me to the specialist that helped me take care of the problem. If you want to have a doctor that really cares about your health this is the one for you. Her office staff are friendly and know what they are doing. Be sure to bring in your list of questions about your health so you can get them answered. I highly recommend Dr. Courtney.

Has no idea what she's doing. She almost got me killed by not helping me to refill my prescriptions. I waited in a gown for an hour before anyone came in. She pretty much interrogated me and I've had to have the office resend referrals multiple times. They randomly sent me a nasal steroid and a muscle relaxer. They decided to refill 1 of my prescriptions and got the dosage off. The only nice people there are the techs and the receptionist. Don't see this doctor. Save yourself the headache.

Avoid this doctor at all cost! She is argumentative and will not listen to the patient or allow the patient to be involved in their own treatment at all. Will not listen to the patients concerns over multiple visits and then will blame the patient for not following the treatment plans even though they are not working. Just wants to up the amounts of non-working prescriptions to help the patient. Told me that I would never be pain free again and could only take 4 Tylenol after major knee surgery for pain management. She should have her license revoked and investigated by the AZ dept of medicine for malpractice.

I've been going to Courtney Medical Group for almost 2 years now. I saw Dr. Marsh once and was not impressed. He may be a nice guy but all he did was complain about personal stuff. I was there for a visit not for a rap session with someone I didn't even know. The other times I saw Dr. Courtney and she was pleasant, kind, thorough. I learned more about my health in one visit with her then I learned my whole life. The new office staff is great, they are friendly, caring and always helpful. My last physician would have me waiting in his waiting room for hours before I even got to go in the back and his 1 front office person was always miserable and busy. Waiting for maybe 5 mins past my appointment time is nothing compared to other offices. I heard from other patients that things are a lot nicer then they were years ago. I'm on pain medication and anxiety medication and unfortunately the law stipulates that certain medication can only be given for 30 days at a time. This is what I've been told by my doctor and by my pharmacy. With all the health care changes going on there are many things that are out of the doctor's control and they have to follow rules too.
I would highly recommend this office to anyone who needs good solid medical care.
