Useless individual who shouldn’t be allowed near a patient didn’t bother to read mri report just looked at film stating it was good practice insisted that I buy two useless back books, which I did. I was sent to him by my employer’s medical officer with a form for disability, he stated to me “ I never fill those out” . After he looked at the mri dvd he didn’t tell me what was wrong and said you don’t need surgery. I was having back spasms so bad that I tore a tendon in my leg. Since the summer of 2021 I still have almost constant pain in the same spot with occasional spasms. He sucks

If you have a problem that is easy to determine he can help you, however, if it is a problem that he has not seen in his 31 years of practice, he tells you that he can't help you. Not impressed with his practice!

In my opinion Dr. Martinez is a very good doctor. I am sure there are people who are put off by his belief in mind-body explanations for chronic pain, but he is not someone who sees the world through a single window and does a thorough intake and physical exam to make sure nothing "medical" is causing the problem. He is also, once you get to know him, compassionate and concerned, and not at all invested in his ego. The doctors out there who are the culprits are those who insist, in the face of study after study showing otherwise, that typical age-related MRI findings are the cause of pain, and who offer worthless surgeries and other procedures.

I went to see Dr. Martinez for help with a specific aspect of a chronic pain condition. Dr. Martinez criticized the approaches that had been taken by my other doctors, and said that if I followed his advice, and used his PTs, I would be free of pain in 30 days. After switching to his PT, my pain continued, and I asked if I should see Dr. Martinez again. Dr. Martinez said that there was no reason for him to see me again. I later got his medical notes, and found out that he wrote that the pain was all in my head. I would not have any problem with this if he based this on anything. (I had been seeing a pain psychiatrist at another pain center for 6 months to help me deal with the pain (as opposed to how to get it out of my head)). In any event, after criticizing all my other doctors, and guaranteeing me a positive outcome, Dr. Martinez was not willing to "help" me any further when I was still in pain. He seems to approach cases based on preconceived notions re pain.
