Dr. Erick Bothun's primary practice location is the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. Although Dr. Bothun mainly sees children, he also treats adults with strabismus (eye-muscle disorders). In 1991, after my 2nd operation, I was told by the most senior & experienced strabismus surgeon at the U of M that I "couldn't have any more surgery." After he retired I eventually came to see Dr. Bothun, who had probably only graduated from ophthalmology training 1-2 years earlier! In 2005, Dr. Bothun performed my 3rd surgery so successfully that I no longer have any diplopia (double vision) & do not require thick prismatic lenses, results that surpassed both Dr. Bothun's preoperative expectations & mine as well. Dr. Bothun (who is committed to community service) is usually friendly & professional, but occasionally seems rushed. However, my only real complaint is that after 5 years of successful & stable follow-up care, he "graduated" me from his practice!
