Dr. Ryntz and the entire staff at Westchester Medical Center’s Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology are beyond amazing. It is rare to find a surgeon that combines such personal care for a patient as a person with outstanding quality of medical care.
Initial Visit:
I came to Westchester Medical Center as my local hospital did not provide the level of care or clinical advancement needed for my surgery. Dr. Ryntz came highly recommended to me. The initial appointment highly impressed me. His attention to detail and explanation of my condition as well as my treatment options was top notch. His investigative mind and ability to connect made me feel secure in the knowledge of where I stood and what the next steps in treatment were going to look like.
Pre-Operative Exam:
During this visit I completed the necessary pre-operative examinations including but not limited to medical history, pre-existing conditions and current medications. The importance Westchester Medical places on preventing secondary infections was very apparent during this visit. I was given chlorhexidine wipes to be used the night prior to the scheduled surgery and directives on the how to use them and their importance as well as the need to sign off that I did use them. All I have to say if this part of the pre-op is not stressed run. This is a sign of a top notch hospital.
Surgery:
I had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy and bilateral salpingectomy. The entire Team (anesthesiologist/nurses and doctors) were top notch from beginning to end. Check-in went smoothly I was impressed with the detailed up to date preventive care measures prior to going into surgery. I was given medicine prior to surgery to alleviate symptoms and inflammation. I was very impressed with the fact that pretty much every member of my operating Team checked in with me after the surgery including Dr. Ryntz. Surgeons are not known for having much to do with a patient after surgery and this was a testament to his character.
First Follow up Appointment:
My first appointment was 2/3 weeks after my initial surgery. I had no secondary infections or unusual symptoms. Healing went very smoothly. Dr. Ryntz was very attentive and answered my myriad of questions, which one knows is not very typical in this day and age. His nurse colleague Jackie was also excellent and always a pleasure to see. Really the entire Team from the front desk staff and beyond are a kind and compassionate lot!
Final Appointment:
My final appointment was 8 weeks out from the initial surgery. I yet again had no secondary infections or unusual symptoms. I was cleared for all activities. I felt pretty much at this stage back to normal. Yet again I did ask a myriad of questions, and Dr. Ryntz answered them all.
I’ll keep it simple for anyone in a position of needing a hysterectomy. Dr. Ryntz is by far the best Surgeon for the job. If you are scared or unsure of your options you will walk away knowing that you are in good hands.
