Dr. Lucy H. Young was dismissive and rude. She always answered my questions with a question, and wouldn't give me direct answers about my ocular condition. She said I would self-heal, and sent me away for seven weeks without any scheduled clinical tests. Dr. Young said to call in "if anything changed". My eye was drenched in blood, so nothing appeared to change. I called Dr. Young's office several times and asked "Shouldn't this be getting better?" and her staff would say "These things take time" and "You're still in the middle of treatment." They just blew me off, basically. During those 7 weeks my condition became inoperable. I suffered permanent loss of vision in one eye. It dropped from 20/30 to 20/200. Clinical tests during those 7 weeks could have triggered surgery in time to save more of my eyesight. Dr. Young was negligent, and her staff were lazy and unhelpful. Try Dr. Torsten Wiegand in Boston. He's a great retina specialist, and a better communicator than Dr. Young.

Dr. Lucy Young is one of the top retina specialists in Boston; she has monitored me for years, first for HIV-related retina issues, now for age-related retina issues. Her knowledge is comprehensive, her empathy and listening skills excellent, her attitude positive and encouraging. Don't be put off by the crowded waiting room: it's crowded because she's the best around -- and her team will move you through as smoothly and efficiently as possible. If you value your eyesight, and especially if you are at risk for or suffer from retinopathy and/or macular degeneration, I highly recommend you make an appointment with Dr. Lucy Young. I won't trust my eyes with anyone else.
