By far the worst doctor ever. I had PCOS for years and was never diagnosed. I went to this doctor from birth until 21 years old. I am a female and had a neck full of hair and she always said it’s because of my race. The WORST doctor ever. 22 years old now and am now taking care of my condition. She should have her license taken away. The worst.

She just talks to get parents attention and confidence, but attends to several kids at the same time. With her divided attention, she misses the obvious. My kids was suffering from hypothyroidism, and she never tested it for several years. The next doctor we moved to caught it on the first day and was surprised she was never tested for it. It was very bad that she went without medication for several years, a very serious issue. Keep away from this lady. She may be smart but with her divided attention, it will do you more harm than good.

Dr. Shankar really needs to improve her office conditions. She is a great doctor but the time management is very poor. Wait time at the office can exceed an hour sometimes. There are not well visit rooms so sick kids and kids for well visits are all together. This makes me very uncomfortable when I'm there just for a well visit. Most of the time we end up waiting in the car which gets the kids even more agitated. She really needs a bigger office and hire better staff.

Dr. Shankar is a very good Doctor and very caring but her staff are a bad news. All you get from staff when you call id Dr. Shankar's office please hold. They put you on hold to chat with their co workers. To see it your self try calling that office while you are waiting. The staff is rude and mean. Dr. Saif is clue less. only cares about copay. if you are there for wellness visit and if you mention that your child had cold week before then she will check vitals and sends her staff after you for copay. 2-3 staff members will remind you of copay before you leave the room. very unprofessional approach.

Been visiting Dr Shankars Office for the past 4 years and happy i moved to a new Dr finally. People stick to her because she speaks most of the south indian languages.

Cons:
1. Dr Shankar is very busy and has no time for patients queries.
2. Minimum wait time 2-3 hrs.
3. Too many patients.
4. Dr Shankar and Saif contradict each other. Once Dr Saif said no infections and i had to see Shankar after two days to only know there was too much fluids in my sons ears.
5. Dr Shankar forgets the previous visit even after viewing her system for patient records. Talks to you as though we come for the first time.
6. Once, they entered their records incorrectly and gave the same shots twice in the same year.
7. Irresponsible office staff. Every time you call them different nurse speaks and puts your call on hold and another person picks up the call and asks why when how where.
8. Follow up appointments for Patients after specialist tests are done as the last appointment of the day(8pm). But the Dr usually sees you between 9.45pm or 10.30pm. By then the kids become too tired and they fall asleep.
9. She takes money for moving records to a another Dr. She charges $15 for moving my childs records to a new Dr as we were moving out of Metuchen NJ.

Pro's:
1. Very Friendly. Communicates to you in your own language.
2. Knows to put shots.
3. You get to meet parents of similar age group. Get to make new friends everytime.

Will never recommend her.

Dr Shankar is great with kids and very knowledgable. Her staff is friendly and organized. But Dr Shankar has become very busy lately, probably because of the large number of patients seeing her. Be prepared for long wait times.
