Never on time. Average 1.5-2hour wait. Appointments are dropped without notice and only works 3 days a week. An amazing doctor, but not really bad time management.

Biography

Dr. Salman Akhtar is a board-certified Interventional Cardiologist who sincerely cares for his patients and helps them lead heart-healthy lives. His core philosophy is to involve the patient completely in their care. He believes that communicating with his patients and helping them understand their diagnosis and treatment plan is of paramount importance. He has been providing comprehensive preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac and peripheral vascular care in the Las Vegas community since 1999. After graduating from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan, Dr. Akhtar continued his education at centers of medical excellence. He had the fortunate experience of being mentored by physicians that are considered leaders in the field of cardiology. His residency in Internal Medicine (1991-1994) was at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. He completed his three year Cardiology fellowship in 1997 at University of Texas, Health Science Center in partnership with Texas Heart Institute, Houston, TX. In 1998 he completed a year long fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, TX. Dr. Akhtar is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. He is a Fellow of American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention. In the rapidly advancing and evolving field of Interventional Cardiology he always stays abreast with cutting edge procedures, devices and drug therapy used in the treatment of heart disease. His conveniently located, modern office facility provides a wide range of diagnostic services, including EKG, Echocardiography, Treadmill and Nuclear Cardiac Stress Testing, Holter Monitors, Event Monitors and Implanted Rhythm Device Interrogation (Cardiac Pacemakers & Defibrillators). The office also provides advanced vascular ultrasound services including carotid arterial studies, lower extremity arterial and venous studies, and screening for aortic aneurysms. Therapies provided on the premises include endovenous ablation for varicose veins and venous insufficiency, as well as EECP (Enhanced External CounterPulsation) treatments for refractory angina and heart failure. Dr. Akhtar performs all inpatient diagnostic and therapeutic procedures at the local hospitals. The services include: Cardiac Catheterization with Angiography Simple & Complex Coronary Interventions (Angioplasty, Stenting, Atherectomy) with use of hemodynamic support devices as Intra-Aortic Balloon & Impella Device Peripheral Vascular Angiography Peripheral Vascular Interventions including Upper Extremity, Lower Extremity & Renal Vascular Interventions Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm Repair Trans-Esophageal Echocardiography (TEE) Cardioversion for arrhythmias Tilt Table Study for evaluation of syncope
