Dr. Sweeney has been wonderful for our family. Our son was in a horrific auto wreck, hit by a drunk, and Dr. Sweeney has provided us with compassionate care and technical competence beyond reproach. I HIGHLY recommend Tom Sweeney!

Dr Sweeney was recommended for an update on my spine and minimally invasive surgery. During our last consult with him, he said he could make me 85% pain free. He performed 2 surgeries within 2 days. It was a horrific recovery with 21 days in rehab and the pain intensified. Everytime i would see him he said everything looked great. It's been 5 years since this surgery. A second opinion a couple of years after surgery revealed that the surgery failed. So now I have no fusion, a few rods and multiple screws in my back (last thoracic to S2).
Im barely hanging in there with the aid of more medication for pain and very little success. My life is one big pain.

I was told I'd be like new after surgery, but became disabled from the 8 hr surgery due to nerve damage. After tests confirmed impinged nerves and after several procedures to alleviate the problem, he still insisted that it couldn't happen with his work. I am unhappy with the whole experience and wish I had gone to a neurosurgeon to start with. And I'm not the only one!

Dr. Sweeny and staff and sugeon center were excellent. I had outpatient surgery less than 45 minutes. Was in extreme pain 2 years, 2 prior surgeons told me low chance of getting better and good chance be worse. Dr. Sweeny was very positive could repair spine and do it in a day. Feel like was given second chance on life. Very grateful to Dr. Sweeny and his staff. Can't express in words how an hour out of his day changed my every day constant pain. It's been six months and have healed up great and walking pain free and sleeping through night pain free. Followed all post surgery directions of exercise , walking more each day and not lifting or bending in wrong way to prevent scar tissue. If you do not do this and get scar tissue and pain the insurance companies will not pay for another surgery. Followed his and staff directions to the letter. Feel great. Thank you so much.

The BEST of the best! Here's a guy that has a great bedside manner, great attitude, loves his job and does his job RIGHT! I don't know where I'd be without Dr. Sweeney! He re-built my entire Lumbar section. I thought I was getting better after 1 year of recovery, but pain got worse 2 years later. I went to a lot of doctors to see why. Most of them referred me back to Dr. Sweeney. So, when I went back, he told me what others told me, that my Thoracic section now was in trouble, and, "he's the only surgeon in this area that goes higher than the lower back". For me to ever have doubts about him were MY mistake! If you're looking for a surgeon to work on your back, and the RIGHT one, he's your guy! I've been dealing with this since a work accident from 2002! He uses the newest technologies. He's not just an MD, he's a Ph.d! He'll get you taken care of because he truly cares about his patients and he is THE best in Sarasota! I'm proud to be able to share this with others!
