Doctor Gaertner represents the worst medical experience I have ever had in my life. My urologist retired many years ago so Dr. Gaertner inherited my file. I had a history of kidney stones but with medication I had been stone free for 10 years. at a check up Dr. Gaertner for no reason changed my medication from Alopurinol to Lisinopril and ACE Inhibitor that opens the blood vessels to lower blood pressure to help the heart function more efficiently. Within months I started making kidney stones. I questioned the medication change which and he would not answer me. consequently I had many surgical procedures to extract the stones. this went on for nearly two years. I had also developed a persistent cough that got so bad I ended up at the Mayo clinic. I made the rounds to different specialists and the last stop was nephrology (kidney Dr). He asked why I was taking Lisinopril and I said " my urologist prescribed it for my stones". He put his head in his hands shaking back and forth and said, "plumbers, they are just plumbers (urologists). this pill doesn't have a f***ing thing to do with your kidney stones. It has also probably caused your persistent cough". I did a 24 hour urine analysis and the Mayo Nephrologist put me back on Allopurinol and no stones for 10 years! I stopped taking Lisinopril and the cough stopped. Dr. Gaertner was extracting so many stones that one month I believe I had 5 operations with 2 in one day. I believe Dr. Gaertner probably made $50K+ off of me and I believe it was done intentionally to simply make money off of my misery. I know I should have reported him the State Medical Board simply based upon what I learned at the Mayo Clinic because I probably wouldn't still be pissed off about it. I have to see a urologist again and Googled to find one and Dr. Gaertner's came up. I had to rate him and warn others of this despicable practice. Beware!
