My father and I went to Dr. Luu Bao to discuss my father's pulmonary function because he has ALS and was concerned about his breathing. Dr. Bao was insensitive and ignorant. He told my father to quickly complete a DNR because he doesn't want to get "locked in" while he is on a ventilator, without the ability to communicate with his family. His comment also showed his lack of knowledge about technology because my father is prepared to use the eye gaze technology and he's recorded his voice for a "voice banking" technology. Look for a pulmonologist with compassion and up-to-date knowledge and awareness about the latest assistive technology. I think some of these reviews are fake. He should not be a doctor. His inappropriate behavior was not my imagination.

He is the best doctor I've ever known. He is knowledgeable and very attentive to his patients. He really cared about his patients and their outcoming results.

I definitely agree with the criticisms. Dr Luu doesn't seem willing to cure patients. He doesn't behave like a physician, but like someone whose job is to discourage patients. He doesn't look knowledgeable. His behavior is rude and his explanations are poor and unconvincing. Moreover, his pro-euthanasia stances are extremely worrisome. I wouldn't recommend him at all.

If you value your life you should find another doctor. He lost so much time arguing with us to prove his point instead of being proactive and treating his patient that he created a very dangerous situation for his patient. If you do not have any critical illnesses and if you are in great shape you can see him for fun, but if you need a doctor who knows what he is doing and who can treat you then there are many other good options in San Diego.

Dr. Luu is one of the best specialists I have ever seen at Scripps Clinic. The poor reviewers must have been imagining things. He took almost one hour with me to discuss my symptoms and treatment. He explained so many aspects of my health and I couldn't have thanked him more when the appointment was over. I was so pleased with his professionalism, knowledge and empathy. I would highly recommend him...without hesitation.

I have heard him telling to the family of newly admitted patient in the ICU that he would not cure the patient for he was old and sick, and seen him putting pressure on the family so that they sign a paper for letting their parent die. He was really rude and inhuman. I wonder why he serves in the ICU and moreover how come that with such an unethical and unprofessional behavior he sits in the ethical committee of the Green Hospital and the ICU ?

Dr Luu is the worst doctor I have ever seen. He is incompetent and lazy as he refuses to cure patients. He is an adept of euthanasia and puts pressure on elderly patients and families for intentionally ending life. If by chance you have him as a doctor at the ICU or in the hospital, be sure that he will send you to the grave without hesitation. His communication skills are also very poor: poor English and ugly behavior. Avoid him if you want to live.

1st visit - i had to wait 1 1/2 hours before seeing him because some other patient was late. Then Dr. Luu discounted and disagreed with my own explanation of symptoms and timeline of events. He diminishes anything a patient has to share as invalid. He treats you like you don't even know your own body, symptoms or timeline of events. I thought since i was so ill that i was overreacting, so i went back for the 6 week follow up visit. Same condescending tone from him, and he still discounted my explanation of symptoms and timeline. He is just plain obnoxious and does not listen to you. He treats you like you are a idiot that doesn't know how you feel and when you felt it. He is on AUTO PILOT!!! I had never walked out of a Doctor's office before, but i was so upset with his lack of compassion and understanding, I walked out during my consultation. I will NEVER walk back in his office again.
