Dr. Cowan told me outright that he was going to perform minimally invasive procedure on my lower back and i was going to be going home after only one hour in recovery and i wouldn't even need pain meds! When I woke up I was in 5 times as much pain in the recovery room than anything I had ever experienced to that point. Despite that I was highly allergic to a certain medication and it was written in 3" letters in my file, they administered 30 ml in recovery and sent me home with a huge bottle - of stuff I'm deathly allergic to! Dr. Cowan had written the instructions and the prescription after surgery even though my allergy was well-documented! I had serious pain and Cowan wouldn'tdo anything to figure out why
I wound up going to Duke Medical Center where they found a fracture that was never going to heal as long as I had fusion hardware. I wish I had never met Dr Michael Cowan.

I do not recommend this Dr he pictured my spinal cord during surgery and has changed and ruined my life and my families life forever.

Absolutely horrible neurosurgeon. He not only provided erroneous info about my condition, he also quickly became callous and nasty after he discovered I didn't want surgery. He even minimized a chronic and extremely serious condition. He clearly doesn't respond well to clients who aren't insipid morons. I wouldn't let this guy operate on my neighbors cat.

Was led to believe the surgery would end the chronic pain I was in. And that I would go back to work. Thats all I needed to hear and I failed to ask questions. ASK QUESTIONS and hold the Dr accountable for his answers.
