This Dr Potaczyk should not be in practice.Veey rude,unkept looking,body odor. Doesnt listen to crucial information on progresses and failures of my condition (AVN of knee) as I live day to day. I had to constantly watch him and listen closely because he was making rash decisions and mistakes. He mentioned that there are 12 yr old boys playing sports with what my knee looks like. Talk about rude...not to mention I cant walk/bear weight without buckling pain.DO NOT SEE THIS DR!

If your insurance allows, go anywhere but here. You will regret it greatly. He is very incompassionate and unprofessional!! If your insurance insists him, fight it.

I wouldn't take a snake to him. The first time I went to him he spent 10 minutes in the hall out side my room laughing to his staff about how he harassed a poor old woman until she became hysterical.........When he finally came in the room he didn't say a word while he read my History which was 2 Hip Replacements done in Fla where I lived at the time . He turned red and shouted "You are an "F***** Slap in the Face" Galesburg is good enough to live in but not have your Surgery done here? Went on ranting and raving until the Nurse came to take me for n X-Ray. I left soon after without talking to him again. Stay away from him!!

This man should not be practicing. He asked me twice why I hadn't killed myself because of all of my medical conditions, told me I was too big and hefty for one surgeon to work on and claimed to be the only Orthopedic in Illinois to take Medicaid. He told me I needed surgery just by looking at one x ray and feeling my shoulder move for 10 seconds. His arrogance and ignorance make up for his lack of humanity.

Fell and messed up my ankle so went to ER they put me in Dr. Potaczek's care because he was the only doctor in the area and it was an emergency. Did surgery 2 days later even with severe swelling and put in plate and screws. Then physical therapy after 6 weeks of being non-weight bearing. Never a day w/o pain since before the surgery, his response "What do you expect you broke your ankle?". Moved to a new area and found a fantastic foot/ankle doctor who after looking at my records and x-ray/MRI shook his head and couldn't say anything positive about Dr. Potaczek's work at all. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Potaczek for anything and the person in his office that takes staples out is one of the rudest people I've ever come across with absolutely no compassion.

I've seen him several times for different injuries. I blew out my shoulder in high school, went to see Potaczek to see if I needed surgery. He spent 15 seconds (literally) examining me before telling me I need surgery and he wanted to schedule it ASAP. It's almost like he was itching to cut. I went to Peoria to get a second opinion, the surgeon there spent over an hour with me explaining things and told me I don't really need surgery unless I still play sports (which I don't). Another incident...I tore two ligaments in my wrist, went to see Potaczek, and he told me that I "don't want the surgery" to repair one of the tears, but didn't tell me what I had done. Well, I got a second opinion from a hand surgeon and I find out that I missed the window to have it repaired. I'm still very angry about that incident. Needless to say, if I have a choice, I will never elect to see Potaczek again.

Great guy who explains things and takes time with you. He doesn't do unnecessary treatment. He did surgery on my knee and was great!
