Dr. Geskin now practices at Columbia University dermatology in NYC so this review is in reference to her new appointment however my experience echos that of other reviewers. I have been a patient at CU dermatology for more than 20 years--since my first melanoma was discovered. Unfortunately the dr, I had previously seen left the practice so I made an appointment with Dr. Geskin based on her credentials. After waiting more than 45 mins in the waiting room, Dr. Geskin had her PA conduct 99.9% of the visit--she only breezed in for a brief moment to look at a suspicious spot on my hand--and to my surprise instructed the PA to biopsy. Dr. Geskin also noted a suspicious looking mole but said I would need to make another appointment to have it removed since we were going to biopsy the spot on my hand that visit. Several days later I received a call from that PA to give me the results--which were positive yet she could not answer any of my questions and suggested I come back in for a second appointment to discuss treatment options. I have had melanoma twice and several other skin cancers, so I was stunned that Dr. Geskin would delegate such serious news to be delivered by a PA who could not even answer my most basic questions. After the call, I reached out to the department manager at the practice to complain about how Dr. Geskin conducted herself but to my surprise, the manager defended Dr. Geskin and saw nothing wrong with having a young and inexperienced PA conduct such serious medical operations. In my opinion, Skin cancer to far too serious to leave to a PA--I have since transferred to another practice and have ceased using CU dermatology. If you have a history of skin cancer, or think you may have skin cancer, DO NOT SEE DR. GESKIN.

After my husband's melanoma diagnosis I wanted him to have routine check ups with a specialist. Can't comment on her knowledge as for the 3 times he visited her office she spent minimal time twice and None the third time!!! The last time- he'll ever go back. Waiting nearly a year for an appointment to see HER and only seeing her assistant and fellow is inexcusable. Our conclusion is a knowledgeable (and there are many in Pittsburgh) dermatologist will remove any suspiscious moles and a lab conclusively renders the diagnosis. Who needs her and that treatment.

This lady has the bedside manner of a prison guard. She is rude, impatient, and extremely condescending. There are plenty of excellent dermatologists in Pittsburgh and I will definitely never return to her.

I have been to her office several times for follow-up checks of a melanoma I had surgery on several years ago. Usually I see one of her Physician's Assistants instead of her, which is fine with me. She is often arrogant and aloof. Four years ago she threw a hissy fit with me because I mentioned that the best sunscreen has been sold all over the world for years, but not in the US because the FDA had not approved it. She seemed to resent that a patient would express an opinion, and angrily made me come over to her computer to look at a webpage she said listed the best sunscreens. The one I had told her about was not mentioned. I guess this performance was to prove something, perhaps that the FDA can do no wrong. The sunscreen, mexoryl, was finally approved in 2006.

I'm really ticklish and I know that annoys doctors, but she was so rude to me about it. The one time I went I didn't even see her (although honestly I was probably just as well off not seeing her), I just saw two med students. She's arrogant and not helpful. She made me get a procedure done that she gave me zero warning for and trust me a warning would have been nice. Not a fan whatsoever.

She is very knowlegable, but as the prev. reviewer said, you don't get to actually spend any time with her. Even busier than a regular dermatologist's office. Not particularly friendly.

very busy practice, spends little time with patients, seems impatient. I felt uncomfortable asking her anything, because she was obviously in a hurry. Talked more to her assistant than she did to me. very difficult to get an appointment, and then you only get 2 minutes with the doctor
