Dr. Hathaway has been a great doctor to my kids, but changed his view on alternate vaccine schedules. I had questions about some of the vaccines and the schedule with specific research findings last year. At that time he assured me that it was my choice how I wanted to handle them. While he didn't know about the study and didn't offer an explanation about risks or benefits, I appreciated his supportiveness in my doubts about their safety. This is why I was very surprised when I was recently told by him that he would not be our doctor if I didn't vaccinate. My son was getting over a cold and I did not want him to have vaccines that day and inquired about making future vaccine only appointments for when/if we decide to vaccinate, when he said that he could not see us if we didn't vaccinate. Very disappointing to find this out. I am a very involved mom who takes my responsibility with my children very seriously. While the standard of care are vaccines, the overall healthcare system is losing sight of the individuals. If an individual refuses a treatment, especially on religious grounds, is it persecution or unfair to deny them healthcare? If all pediatricians took this stance, then what would happen? Parents would be bullied into the one size fits all mold of standardized care or be denied healthcare. Unfortunately, emergency rooms would become the primary care providers for those families who would have nowhere else to go. Very disappointed in Shawn Hathaway for his stance on this issue and I hope to find a pediatrician who is willing to discuss my concerns and treat my children as individuals and not a statistic (compliance rate).

Dr. Hathaway is by far the best doctor I've ever came in contact with. He is gentle, kind, and patent. I know my daughter is in good, knowledgeable hands. He is so helpful, and you can notice he truly cares about his patents. I'm blessed he is my baby girl's physician. I highly recommend him!!

Phenomenal doctor. The BEST! He is kind and considerate to both patients and parents. He treats all with respect. He is extremely knowledgeable and willing to spend the time to address your concerns. Always feel like he's giving us his full attention and he's also been known to personally call us and let us know results of tests and answer questions. Can't express enough how exceptional he is...and with 6 children--I ought to know!

Absolutely wonderful doctor. Very patient, caring and warm. Deals really well with all sorts of children (I have 3 who have very different personalities.) Not my pediatrician, but if I'd met him first, he probably would have been.

We met Dr. Hathaway in the hospital after our daughter was born. He has a very pleasant and knowledgeable manner. Unfortunately, he was not taking new patients at that time, but we ended up with another wonderful pediatrician instead. We have seen Dr. Hathaway on occasions when our regular doc was out. He is very good with children, doing things like letting them touch and examine his stethoscope before he uses it. He has not seemed rushed; his manner seems to suggest that he will sit with you until all your questions are answered.

I am so glad we found Dr Hathaway. We had a problem with a different practice, and he was able to relax our fears and told us what to watch for. He is very helpful, listens, and answers questions. I am very pleased with him - as well as the other doctors and staff in this group.

Shawn has always been good to both my children. He is a very patient doctor. He listens to my concerns and does not treat me like I am an overly protective mom. He will answer my questions about either child at the other childs appointment (unlike our last ped.)
