Dr.W.Long is a very special knee replacement doctor,he is a great honest person didn't try to sugar coat your thoughts on what you think might take place,he knows what he talking about and to the extreme confidence of an excellent doctor. He is straight to the point,no wishwash, intelligent, forthcoming and his talking with you leaves you on a path of knowledge because he knows what he knows and doesn't bs .Very caring, leaves you with a caring person, tells you exactly what you have to do before having surgery, for instance smoking!! Have to stop, which is a very difficult task,Chantix, patches and your will_power all these vices DO NOT WORK, for one the company that makes Chantix they changed the formula,& the gum doesn't help or work in fact chewing gum is a worthless treatment, the patches are made with Latex_which I am extremely allergic to,so what can I do with being highly addictive to tobacco which is the one drug that is the most difficult to quit has been proven. So I can't have surgery & right now I would rather donate to his helping other people thru_out the world.Do your self a service and go see the Number ONE BEST knee replacement doctor. He is at the TOP,no one can top #1. He is the BEST!!!

I am an Ivy League professor, journalist, author & global disability activist who has written for the New York Times, NPR, Huffington Post, Al Jazeera, etc. & traveled to 60 countries (having had medical treatment in many of the countries in which I've lived). I can say without a doubt that Dr. Long is the worst medical provider I've seen in the world. He didn't even bother to read my medical reports nor would he give me any medical advice or care. His unprofessionalism was appalling--he is filled with rage, hostility & aggression & I was scared to be alone in the room with him. He also used ableist language that was deeply offensive & politically incorrect. When I mentioned my surgeon from Yale (from when I was on the faculty at Yale), he changed his tone & demeanor because he realized I perhaps was more privileged & powerful than I appeared. But then his narcissism got the better of him & he had to conquer his insecurity / inferiority by treating me with even more dismissiveness & hostility.

A one star review reads: "Worst experience with a Dr. I've ever had. Wouldn't even look at MRI disks, got mad when I asked questions, and was rude when talking to myself. Also, he was very awkward and made the whole experience quite unpleasant." This was exactly my experience -- he wouldn't read my records, got irate when I asked simple questions, and was extremely rude and hostile. Another one star review: "Absolutely the worse [sic] doctor I have ever met. Very unprofessional and his expertise does not make sense. After my hip replacement I have been worse & needed to have another surgery to get better."

I believe that Dr. Long is a sociopath lacking human empathy, compassion & humanity. His staff are clearly afraid of him. When I asked to speak with him or his assistant after my appt to ask why he didn't even consult my records (from a top surgeon in the nation), the staff claimed not to be able to find him or his assistant. The staff were not even able to make eye contact -- probably not their first time in the rodeo -- they must get many complaints from patients & I assume abusive treatment from him (if he treats patients as he treated me, imagine his poor staff).

A Los Angeles Times investigative report references his unethical behavior: "Dr. William T. Long, the only other full-time orthopedic surgeon, recently resigned after being threatened with dismissal for allegedly falsifying his time cards and referring insured King/Drew patients to his private practice at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood. Auditors found him performing surgeries & seeing private patients at Centinela on at least five Fridays this year when his time card indicated he was at King/Drew."

Shocked that his tone was that of an inquisitor instead of a care provider, I surmised he likely had a lot of experience in courtrooms with lawyers. So I started doing research into his malpractice / lawsuit history & I may write an article about how someone with his unprofessionalism & history is still being allowed to practice medicine in California. Do not believe anything but the 1 star reviews on the internet -- he is an incompetent & insecure doctor and a likely sociopath. I am sharing this so no one experiences what I did (and other patients according to their similar reviews) -- really, protect yourself and seek care elsewhere. Dr. Long should not be allowed to practice medicine (or anything else for that matter).

I also think there may also be some illegal activity occurring in his office, as some older ladies in the waiting room said they had brought their friend to be seen -- they said to the staff: "Can't you just fit her in?" The front desk person said (in a quiet voice): "We used to be able to do that, but we're not allowed to anymore." I wonder if they're under investigation (and thus having to be careful while being "watched"), if he gives money to people who bring their friends (more friends = more surgeries = more money), or if he's selling prescriptions. It was all so very strange, dehumanizing, and cruel.

Dr. Long is the best orthopedic surgeon in the United States! My husband has had over 10 hip replacements so we would know the good from the not so good. Dr. Long has preformed the last three surgeries (full hip-replacements) on my husband and all of them have been successful. Dr. Long an exceptional surgeon! He truly cares for his patients and every action and word is sincere. His P.A. Burt, is highly trained and very knowledgeable. He is also very genuine and sincere in all he does for Dr. Long and his patients. Dr. Long's nurse Jan, always puts one at ease. She is an exceptional listener and goes beyond her duties to take care of her patients. I must give a shout out to Dr. Long's office staff. All of them are courteous and professional. They also care a great deal for their patients' welfare. It all trickles! Dr. Long has created an amazing team of professionals. You will not go wrong with putting your trust in this team. We owe a great deal to all of them. - Sincerely, Janine Lenway
