Dr. Neala J. Hunter - My father had a heart attack 2 days ago and was transferred to hoag in Newport Beach allegedly they specialize in cardiovascular area. This doctor Hunter is by far the worse human being I have ever met in my life. She was rude had no empathy and her answer for everything are idk idk idk when she told us about my father having blood clots and talk to surgeon she asked if we had questions. I asked her a question and her response was it means he has blood clots talk to the doctor. The nurse that was doing the breathing test goes she was very cold I would ask for the the charge nurse ask to switch doctors and get more information absolutely unbelievable.

May god have mercy on her evil heartless soul

Dr. Hunter and her staff have taken care of my cardiology care for nearly ten years. I've always had the best of care and the most personal interest and caring for my wellbeing. Dr. Hunter takes her time, explains technical terms fully, and makes sure I am informed of risks for procedures and medications. She also instills confidence when her patients face life-threatening procedures. She looked in on me before and after she implanted a Latitude Communicator to prevent death from infarction. We share an interest in gardening. I highly recommend this doctor and staff; they are at the top of their game.

Dr. Hunter is reported to be very smart and very good in her field, but she is not very good at communication, empathy, and SEEING her patients as sentient beings who need time to digest information and ask questions. I should not have to ask "what does that mean" to every statement she makes, and I should not be made to feel small and stupid by a doctor who is in a hurry. She needs to work on her patience, compassion, and people skills. I am a person, not just another case. Going elsewhere where I can get brilliance as well as humanity.

I began seeing Dr. Hunter in 2000 after being diagnosed with SVT at age 32. I found her after having a terrible experience with another cardiologist. She has been fantastic. She is caring, thorough and very knowledgable. She implanted a Linq cardiac monitor for me over a year ago when I had a recurrence of SVT after years of being well controlled on medications. I just had an ablation in July and had some concerning symptoms after. Everything turned out to be ok, but she took the time to call me twice in the late evening - once to see how I was feeling and discuss my symptoms, and again to relay test results. She is a wonderful doctor and I highly recommend her.

I have rare interactions to medications. Tried a few heart doc's before Hunter. She get's it. Works fast but gets it, better than the other doc's who took their time and didn't get it. It seems she's 'street smart' and not just book smart. She appears to think outside the doctor box quickly. She see's things very quickly. It might throw some people off a little ,that some peoples brains work faster with more accurate, as they were simply born to do, what they do. Like some artists love to paint but turns out horrible. While other artists quickly slap on paint to a canvas and walla, it's perfection. Seems she's actually doing in life, what she was gifted for.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hunter's since 2006. Diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, she implanted a difibulator that year and has treated me since. She is a highly qualified, professional, caring physician who shows deep concern for patients. She takes time to gather enough information make an accurate diagnosis, carefully explains her findings in detail, and answers all questions. She is easy to talk with and has Always made me feel I am the reason for her day, not an interruption to it. Her staff is Very friendly & waiting time is minimal. In 7 years the longest I have ever waited to see her is 10 minutes. After being admitted to Hoag Hospital in November, 2011 I suffered a heart attack. Dr. Hunter cared for me, stabalized me and referred me to Cedars-Sinai Hospital where I received a heart transplant in January of 2012. I am still under her care for general follow-up. In short, she saved my life. I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone in search of an Excellent cardiologist!

I have been a patient for 12 years for Atrial Fib and mine is severe. Doctor Hunter has done a fantastic job I respect and like her very much as my Doctor and Friend. I rate her and Newport Heart as one of the best Clinics / Offices in the West. I am still alive and have a somewhat normal life thanks to Dr. Hunter.

Dr. Hunter use to be really good 10 years ago and took a lot of time with me. However, it's like she doesn't like being a doctor any more. I truly believe it's because of Insurance Companies Bull that some good doctors now hate their jobs. She got kinda shot with me around the time my Blue Cross PPO was purchased and Health Net started screwing with doctors testing needed and with patients. Patients are being ripped apart by the medical politics between their doctors and their Insurance Companies. This is not to excuse Dr. Hunters actions but I also think she only works part time.
