THIS PLACE HAS REALLY CHANGED-AND FOR THE WORSE.
I have been going here for 5 years! When I started out, the Dr and staff really cared. They offered me several options and treatments and some of them worked. They were lifesavers, pulling me from the Hell of chronic pain. Then, when the whole "opioid crisis" occurred and the world became anti every damned drug including pain killers and benzos, this place took a giant dump. They stopped offering me anything but dope and steroid shots. No more epidurals, no more rf ablations, nothing. It became the awful drug mill it is today. Also, there has been a 100% change over of personnel in the last 2 years. All of the prior people office wide are GONE and replaced by cheaper idiots who are CLUELESS in their jobs! You NEVER get to see a real doctor anymore. NEVER. On top of everything else, they began looking for any excuse-and I do mean any, whether real or fake-to get rid of anyone they see for longer than 6 months. Apparently, it doesn't look good to the DEA to peddle opioids long term to patients, whether they need them or not. This was approx 6 months ago and just got worse and worse. They did not and do not give a damn about your pain anymore. All they care about is getting your money, getting you hooked, and dumping your ass after a few months so they don't look bad to the DEA and powers that be. My pain is real and will be with me the rest of my life, yet these guys and their fake non-MD "doctors" along with Uhrik who is RARELY in the office at all anymore figure it is better to drop all long term patients then to look bad. First they refused to do anything but give me drugs and steroid shots. Then they made up a fake "law" that "requires" them to cut back everyone on prescribed opioids by 10%.. When I asked just what law that was, they balked and said never mind. Next thing you know, on my very next visit, they have yet another new person take me to a back room where she hands me a "you are fired as a patient" letter, supposedly due to my having tampered with my random urine sample. Like say what? I NEVER did any such thing and had absolutely no reason to do so whatsoever. I have always been a 100% compliant patient. I had never taken a single dose of any pain killer in my entire life until I was given them by this place and their people. I don't even drink or smoke, for goodness sake and never have. All of my previous drug tests have been 100% correct for the drugs they gave me-nothing more and nothing less, yet look at what they laid on me with this BS just to get rid of me because I refused to accept they cuts they made up laws about being necessary. What a miserable bunch of asses they are for pulling this crap and making this story up just to get rid of me. What a betrayl of my trust, you know? First do no harm? Really?
Do you really want to go to a place that does this to their patients?
They hook you on opiates then dump your butt with faked up excuses if you stay around too long and call them on their BS. The answer, if you have any sense at all, is HELL NO.
For goodness sake, ignore the faked up positive reviews they put on here for themselves and stay far far away from this place. Go to a real pain doctor who will actually take good care of you as a patient, not treat you like garbage like this place did with me.

At first The Dr. came across rude. I disliked him, but I found out that he just isn't overly warm. I think they deal with so many druggies that They assume everyone is a druggie, trying to get their fix. I have a lot of issues to deal with physically, I do wish the staff was compassionate. the front desk girl is GREAT. but the back area girls, suck. They wouldn't even give me my gabapentin 3 days early because I increased my dose... my last dr was the best ever and he allowed me to increase and decrease gabapentin as needed. this is non narcotic for neuropathy. The Dr. decided to go to lunch instead of seeing me so I saw a nurse. yes a nurse. I am looking for a new dr. Someone who knows pain and spines.

I was referred to Dr. Uhrik by someone who held him in very high esteem, so I was shocked when he minimalized and trivialized my pain, was arrogant, patronizing and dismissive. Medicare and I paid for him to tell me that my pain would eventually subside and not be as excruciating as it had been, at that time, for several months. The only way I managed to reduce the pain to a tolerable amount was by getting an Rx for a narcotic I could tolerate from a compassionate, understanding physician. I no longer take any narcotic, having chosen to live with a certain amount of pain, although I am taking non-narcotics for pain. The person who referred me to Dr. Uhrik has never again referred another patient to him. I don't know why he went into medicine because it's obvious he doesn't like people, particularly people who are sick or in pain.

just moved to phoenix and i am on disability due to back problems. picked dr. uhrik from the phone book. wasn't too impressed at first, but soon realized he was pretty smart. but like the previous reviewer, he made it clear he did not think i was in as much pain as i am, and was actually a smart-@$$ about it. usually i can live with that. but since back problems require such longterm care and frequent visits, i will change.
