In July, I started having problems with my right knee with intense pain and swelling. I had meniscus surgery in 2018 performed by Dr. Sugar with great success. The surgery I had in 2018 took care of the pain issues on the left side of my right knee, but now the right side was damaged. Dr. Sugar came to my rescue once again, and we scheduled a knee replacement. Unfortunately, due to the Covid situation in Florida, all significant surgeries were not being performed. Dr. Sugar gave me another solution with meniscus surgery on the right side of my knee. Dr. Sugar fixed my pain issue once again.

The Sugar Orthopedics office is above average in care, including Stephanie, Susan, Megan, Michael, and the entire staff. They treat everyone like family and not numbers which are hard to find in the industry. Dr. Sugar treated me with great care and concern like a family member. I have lived in places from New York, Los Angeles, and South Carolina which doctors don't even come close to the expertise with knowledge of Dr. Sugar.

Dr. Sugar coordinated an investigation of my knee problem, scheduled surgery within a matter of days, and by the end of 6 weeks I was back to 100% functionality. Great person, great staff, very professional and supportive. Thanks doc!

I had surgery 4/1/19 with a total replacement of my right knee and was back to work in 3 weeks, the staff were exceptional and Dr. Sugar was outstanding! I,m scheduling a replacement of my left knee before year end. I would recommend Dr. Sugar to anyone that was to have knee surgery. Thanks Again Dr. Sugar (Hat's off to you!)

A couple of months ago I experienced some major pain issues in my right knee and was referred from Dr. Avila to see Dr. Sugar in Sarasota. The results of my MRI and X-rays showed some long-term damage, which was causing extreme pain with the lightest of pressure on my knee. From the first time I walked into Dr. Sugar’s orthopedic office I felt at ease and confidant that I was in the right place. The first consultation was with Hanna, who is Dr. Sugar’s assistant and I felt so confident in the care and explanation that was given to me on what course of action to take. In a matter of a few days after Hanna and Dr. Sugar reviewed my situation, a game plan was in placed to resolve the issue quickly so I could get back to my regular routine of life.

When I met Dr. Sugar on my surgery date it was like I have known him for years. I am not one to get a sense of confidence in doctors so quickly, but Dr. Sugar won me over in a matter of minutes with his caring and encouragement to make me feel comfortable. Over the years of having many issues with physical corrections due to an active motorcycle and skateboarding that resulted in some pretty fun accidents, I have had some experience with surgeons for other issues. Dr. Sugar rates number one in my experiences to include caring, sense of humor, providing solutions that work far better than any other surgeon I have seen in my 40 years of trauma on my body. Dr. Sugar’s staff also rate number one in being the best on the West Coast and East Coast, which I have had the pleasure of living throughout. In conclusion I would say if you want excellent results in realistic solutions, the only place on both coasts is Dr. Sugar’s orthopedic office in Sarasota. Thank you Dr. Sugar for giving me back my confidence in not being in pain from my knee injuries the natural way.

Dr David Sugar, lacks empathy

Myself and wife are both patients of Dr David Sugar. Previously we had a problem with Dr Sugar's staff he said to us "if you ever have a problem again, come see me and I'll take care of it".

Starting two weeks ago my wife started to suffer with severe pain in her arm and shoulder. Not knowing what it was, she first visited our GP who diagnosed the condition tendonitis and suggested she visit out orthopedist, Dr David Sugar. After trying unsuccessfully for over a week, we decided that we would go to Dr Sugar's office without an appointment and wait to see him. We got there at 12:30 and was advised that if we didn't have an appointment she would not been seen by the Doctor. She explained the severity of the pain and said she would wait to see the Doctor. Fast forward 5 hours when the office manager again told us that Dr Sugar would not see her. My wife then said she only wanted to talk to him. She was told no.

Though she was offered an appointment 2 days later, it became obvious it was just a ploy to get us to leave because early the next morning, we received call saying that we could no longer receive medical care from Dr Sugar and that our records were to be transferred to another doctor's office.

Obviously Dr Sugar forgot his telling us "if you ever have a problem again, come see me and I'll take care of it". He did not even show the empathy one expects from a Doctor, but even from a decent man. He did not, and could not, find 5 minutes for long time patient in pain

Dr Sugar treats both my wife and myself. He has done my surgery on my torn acl, I was back to normal within a matter of a few weeks. He and his office staff are professional and friendly. My wife and I highly recommend him.

Dr. Sugar helped me with a torn acl and a torn meniscus... I followed his instruccions and barely experience pain after the surgery and 3 months later, I'm almost back to normal!!! Quick recovery! He is simply the best ortho that anyone can ask for... Super kind, friendly and very very professional! I love him and wouldn't change him for anything... There isn't anything better than him! If you need an ortho dr. go to Dr. Sugar... That's who you need!
