Dr Dean has great bedside manner. He carefully explains your diagnosis and what you can expect from treatment. He doesn't rush into surgery, trying conservative treatments first. He trained under a world renowned surgeon, Dr Hawkins. His schedule is very busy due to his popularity, so sometimes waiting time is long, but I don't consider that a problem.

Dr. Mark T. Dean, MD, along with Dr. Ralph F. Salzer, MD and Dr. Scott E. Strohmeyer, Md, are responsible for my being able to walk today. At the age of 18 (11 years ago) I fell off a dock, ripped my left leg at my knee backwards 90 degrees, and tore everything except the skin and artery. I went through extensive surgeries, involving all three doctors. After several years of surgery and rehabilitation I gained complete use of my leg and perfect range of motion. Unfortunately my severed paroneal nerve was unable to be repaired causing what is known as "drop foot", but this was later resolved through tendon transfer in my left foot and ankle via Dr. Robert B. Anderson, MD, in Charlotte, NC. I have the greatest respect and appreciation for these doctors and recommend them very highly! They have gone above and beyond my expectations in all of the rating criteria listed for the past 11 years.

This doctor said that I was one of the 5% of his patients that didn't turn out as he expected. After that, every time I went back to him I had to wait or I was told he was too busy to see me. Then, when I went to him to get a refill on pain medication he said I was no longer his patient and to go to my primary care doctor for it.

Dr. Mark Dean has been treating my arthritic knee for several years. He started with injections of replacement synovial fluid, then progressed to a brace and only resorted to a total knee repacement when all other options were exhausted. He always carefully explained what my options were and what outcomes were to be expected. He is a very skilled surgeon.
