I would highly highly highly recommend Dr. Alai to my family and best friends.
I am a medical paraprofessional and a seasoned veteran in the medical field as an expert witness. Despite my own expertise and network and connections, I have spent nearly 3 years researching my itchy back and leg condition. I was not sleeping. I had lumps all over from scratching at my skin incessantly. Through my own research I located Dr. Alai and spent about 2 hours the first visit getting a medical makeover. I had an MRI which confirmed exactly what the doctor told me it would- that I had pinched disc in my C5-C6 of my neck. After a few days, I was sleeping, my lumps have just about all gone down and I've never been so happy with my hours of research ( 2 and a half years worth) to find the specialist who gets itch and can really work magic. If you are having a terrible itch or just about any skin condition that no one else can get diagnosed, Dr. Alai is your end game- she will spend the time and take the effort to make sure no stone is left unturned. My bloodwork was like an 18 year old she said. All the lumps all over my legs and back and arms, and all the bleeding and misery was stemming from my neck spine, not skin. They do treat for both- skin and spine, and I am so much better I can't believe it took me almost 3 years of hell to get through.

As a doctor I have access to so many other specialists and colleagues I had turned to for help with my skin for years. I had my choice of doctors but am going out of my insurance plan just to see Dr. Alai.
My psoriasis has NEVER looked so clear and I do not know what I would do otherwise without Dr. Alai and Dr. Jeffes. I was seeing a couple of other dermatologists who were treating me with injections and nothing worked. My skin was getting worse and I was in terrible pain 24/7. I stopped all of the drugs and started holistic light therapy ( painless and no chemicals) at The Skin Center and within 5 weeks I was 80% clear. I have never had such an amazing improvement. I send in all of my patients to Dr. Alai and highly, highly recommend. She is an extraordinarily talented doctor who not only fixed my skin, but also did a better job on my primary care issues and gave me a through physical and lab tests. I would not have known about my thyroid and H. pylori stomach infection without her thorough approach. The staff are all like friends, are happy to see me ( and getting better!) and really take care of me.

This was a very strange visit. As others posted, there is an incredible amount of papers that you need to sign accepting liability for payment, pre-payment required, $50 fee for cancelled appointments etc. I was informed I had not met my high deductible and $151 was requested. I was then asked if I was going to have anything removed because this is an extra expense. I have never seen this doctor before -- I was coming in for a skin cancer screening. How am I to know if anything needs to be removed! After my exam I was told there was nothing that looked like cancer but I should consider if I wanted biopsies or fotofinder for some of the more concerning spots. I was also prescribed a medication for areas with sun damage -- which will require me to come in again for at least 1 more visit. I forgot to mention that she only checks half your body so you have to come back for the second half. The entire time I kept hearing a cash register ringing in the back of my mind.
The doctor seemed very nice but I felt like my pocket was being picked. I don't think I'll be back.

I had seen every doctor and specialist imaginable for my eye rash. Nothing worked. I was taking my latest prednizone pill pack and had given up hope. I found Dr. Alai in SuperDoctors and after a lot of research went to see her. I instantly knew and felt I was at my final doctor. My eyes were better after just two days and no nore prednisone. I had a follow up appointment but was doing so well I havent needed to go back. The nurse was exceptionally nice and she really helped me out. They all were compassionate to my plight. I would recommend this dermatologist for complicated eyelid rashes.

I would not have known about a really big cancer on my chin without Dr. Alai. I went in to see dr. Alai outside of my kaiser HMO plan for a cosmetic mole removal on my body. Dr. Alai found a rare growth called a microsictic adnexal cancer on my chin which was totally unrelated. I did not even see this growth and had no idea it was there. I am so grateful Dr. Alia cared enough was was thorough. She looked beyond what I was there to do. To save me money, she wrote a note for me to take to kaiser to have my biopsy covered by my plan. My doctors and friends were very impressed.

I am extremely disappointed with my visit to Dr. Alai. I was a new patient and went in for a full body check. She was not at all thorough and did not spend adequate time with me. She recommended that I go to an office at UCI that does a high-tech scan. If she is going to recommend this type of procedure, then why did she even agree to see me for a body check? The amount of paperwork that needs to be filled out is ridiculous, with excessive focus on liability, insuring payment, etc. I have never had to do that kind of paperwork at any other doctor's office. Payment is required before you can see the doctor, which is ridiculous since it is unknown what you need to have done until the doctor sees you and determines what is needed. I could go on and on. Honestly, I have never had such a negative experience at a medical office.

Great dermatologist! Dr. Alai is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. She took the time to explain everything and gave me detailed written instructions. The office is clean and comfortable. The staff is professional, very friendly, and also knowledgeable. I have had a few procedures (biopsies/facials/laser hair removal)and all have been painless and quick.
