Terrible doctor. Would not recommend her. She kept asking me to come back for followup appointments and when I did not, she didn't followup either. She was my very first gyn and traumatized me for the future.

Do not go to Dr. Shangold. She was extremely unhelpful. She was 2 hours lat for the appointment. She did not listen to my concerns and performed tests that were completely unnecessary. She then had me come in for a follow up appointment where she had forgot everything that had been discussed in the first appointment. Complete waste of my time. And her staff is extremely unprofessional.

I thought maybe it was just me, but after my exam all I could think was that she hurt me. I have had several Doctors in my time, some at planned parenthood where you might not expect a lot and they were all superior to her. I agree with the reviewer who said, "it felt like she raped me with the speculum." It hurt so much and she put it in twice because she forgot to do something. She was so late and I was very patient. What bugs me most of all is the follow-up results appointment, that may or may not be necessary. If nothing is wrong they should just say so rather than making you come all the way in. I don't sleep around, but though it might be wise to get normal STD testing that is listed on the forms and she made me feel like the biggest ****. Awful, I won't be going back.

Overall experience at this doctor's office was terrible. Mona spoke down to me, has an exceedingly rough bedside manner and a terrible personality. The final straw was when she prescribed me a drug she claimed would help me quit smoking. After some quick research, I discovered that she had prescribed an anti-depressant, which she failed to explain. She led me to believe that I was getting a stronger form of nicorette, not some Prozac equivalent. Her failure to explain this was pretty appalling.

Worst doctor!! Moved to Philly in 2006 and chose her at random. I was on Loestrin with no problems for years but she pushed me to go on Yaz/Yazmin for 12 months and my whole life turned upside down. Immediately my migraines increased in intensity and frequency, more than 2 a month lasting up to 7 days each, forcing me to shell out $$ for expensive migraine meds since Aleve now no longer could help me. Major bleeding in between periods, and SEVERE mood swings, irrationality, feelings of depression, and severe joint/neck pain. When I told her these symptoms started on Yaz, she got confrontational, accusing me of being in denial and she wrote me a script for Prozac and told me to start taking it THAT SAME DAY! I said I should just see a psych first to evaluate me and she scoffed at the idea and was trying to force me onto the Prozac. I stood up to her and refused and she was speechless. Been off Yaz for a year+ but still reeling from side effects. Now I may have colitis as well.

I had my first visit this month. She seemed alright and fairly helpful. I don't know about that anal exam though, that was new for me. Anyway I have to go back about some test results and I'm worried because the results can't match my current lifestyle, but we'll see. I haven't ran into any extraordinary doctors in the past 10 yrs, so maybe people should ease up on her a little. Like I said I've only been once. I wasn't extremely impressed but I wasn't dissatisfied either. I don't "like" any doctor!

I waited almost 3 hours to see the doctor (1.5 hrs. with just a robe on in the examination room while she was in her office doing paperwork. I mentioned that I might not have insurance in the next month due to a job change and she got very upset, wrote a lot of notes on my chart and then alsmost didn't examine me. I was overcharged my copay and after over a month have still not been able to obtain my test results. Worst doctor experience ever!

I will not return to Dr. Shangold because: 1) Her receptionist is incredibly rude. Staff has to be pretty terrible to dissuade me from seeing a good doctor. Well, this receptionist fits the bill. I can't believe this woman has a job at all, let alone one that involves dealing with people who may be in sensitive situations. 2) Wait times are horrendous. For my first visit I waited TWO HOURS. I thought maybe they were just having a really bad day, but apparently this is not that unusual. 3) The doctor herself is not that bad. However, she does force you to come in just to get quick test results - and you might wait an hour to hear them! Also, her office is a huge mess and does not inspire confidence that she can keep your information straight. Finding a new doctor is a pain, which is why I haven't done it yet. But after reading all these comments about other (better!) doctors I have hope I can find an office that is less of a nightmare to deal with.

Dr. Shangold will always be my doctor. Yes, she is tough because she cares about me. Because of her I am now a non-smoker. I have always been treated respectfully and professionally. I have recommended her to at least 5 friends who are also now loyal patients. I am truly at a loss to understand these negative comments.
