My son was 18 when he was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma. Dr. Wexler was wonderful at first, undoubtedly. When conventional treatment failed, Dr. Wexler said he could have my son seen by a dr at Columbia....he never did that. When my son asked how long do i have, Dr. Wexler said "6-12 months and you'll have to excuse me, i have an appointment in 15 minutes" and left me with my heartbroken son. He did NOTHING to help us seek treatment elsewhere - Dr. Macatangay did everything humanly possible to help my son - but Dr. Wexler just walked away and left my son sitting there - stunned. i wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy. When he thought he could help he was great-when his treatment failed he completely turned his back on my son. GOD Himself will judge Dr. Wexler and the way he treated my son in his final days. In my opinion, Dr. Wexler is pompous and arrogant. If he had an ounce of humanity he would have tried to help my son get that appointment at Columbia.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Wexler. My daughter was diagnosed when she was 7 years old. She is now 10, and has been in remission. He saved her life. He was patient, caring, understanding, knowledgeable and is truly her hero. When she was diagnosed we were beside ourselves. He sat with us and explained everything that would happen. His staff is wonderful. His team is awesome. I have never met anyone like him. He along with Dr. Meyers, Dr. Chou and all the wonderful nurses are professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. I trust them and feel like they cured my daughter.

Sainthood might sound like hyperbole but it is deserved in this case. A pediatric oncologist who can related to children as well as to their traumatized parents. Personally answers emails, phone calls, and is always there to support, both emotionally and with expertise that saves lives. I know of three children who he has cured when other doctors offered no hope. A true human being, would that all doctors, mixed his skill and empathy.
