I was a patient of Dr. Gilbert and thought he was the nicest doctor I have ever met.He was so kind and made you feel so good around him. He was kind and gentle and cared so much about your health problems. He will be dearly missed and hard to replace. My prayers are with his wife and sons at this difficult time may God give them comfort at this time.

I am troubled, shocked and sadened to hear of Dr.Gilberts' death.I was referred to him by my primary doctor in 2009.I had some prostate issues, he put me on medication, and has monitored me every six months since. His diagnosis with me was perfect and I am doing well as I am typing this comment.Dr. Gilbert was honest, knowledgable, kind, humorous, witty, and became a friend as well.He joked and was always a happy upbeat person but was very serious about his profession and his patients. He always gave me time answering any and all questions I asked and I asked plenty. He never rushed my appointments, ever.He always explained and answered my concerns and fears with complete professional dedication looking me right in the eye with his concern for me.He was a great Doctor and I'm sure a wonderful family man as well. This fine gentleman and Doctor never deserved such a mindless, senseless act. We will all miss him.My thoughts and prayers go out to Doctor Ronald Gilbert and his Family and his Staff.

I am saddened by the murder of Dr. Gilbert. I was his patient for the last 7 years and I am sure he saved my life. I was referred by my GP and he went above and beyond in his exans and recommended I have a bladder tumor removed. Thank goodness because it was cancerous. I saw him every 90 days and then had a 2nd tumor which he also removed (benign). I continued to see him every 6 months and had an appointment for a bladder scope 2 weeks ago but had to cancel as I was out of town. If the test was clear, it would have been the 5 year mark cancer free for me. I think Dr. Gilbert was not only a brilliant physician but also a funny and kind man. I always knew when he was coming into the exan room as he whistled as he walked down the hall. He was diligent with my treatment and never rushed the exam. I will truly miss him and wish he could be there to tell me I made it to 5 years cancer free. Prayers to your family and safe journey Dr. Gilbert to the wonderful place I am certain you are going.

My heart goes out to Dr. Gilbert's family. The Dr. found that I had a problem, during a health fair, became my Dr.for that problem which led to surgery about 8 months later. This was maybe 13 years ago. While I found his staff at that time to be a bit off standing, but never rude, just professional, not overly friendly (but then that was not their job) but never to the point when I would be critical of what they did. Dr. answered all by questions, and even displayed a bit of humer while doing a sample cut for a bi-op.I was nervous but when he snipped and let out a mock comment (as coming from me) with "Thank you Dr. Gilbert you S.O.B." I laughed and was put at easy & the rest was easy. I wasn't insured,at that time, but he took payments, & explained to me how to get the best deal without insurance,at a hospital. He didn't need to do that, but he did. I am forever grateful. RIP Dr. you were a good man.

I am not one to weep outwardly, but I did when I got the news Dr. Gilbert's murder yesterday. This event left me with a feeling of helplessness. The important thing here is that a person, no, a father and a doctor has been taken from this world, and there is no good reason for it. I have read in these comments what seem to be postings by a serial commentator, comments that do not match my experience. So, I feel compelled to relate my own observations about Dr. Ronald Gilbert. First, he was a doctor who would talk straight to you, person to person. Second, he never rushed me and always made sure to ask if I had any questions. Third, he was skilled at what he did, and he was proud of his knowledge and skills and always made me feel I was getting his best effort. He was able to get remove a very difficult stone through catheteritization, And his staff was always positive. Fourth, he was caring. He always showed genuine concern. I can only pray for Dr. Gilbert and his family now.

My GP referred me to Dr. Gilbert when my PSA was elevated. He diagnosed my prostate cancer 11 years ago when I was 48. He compassionately and intelegently guided me through my options and I elected to have him perform my surgery a few weeks later. I am today still cancer free, but have seen him every 3 - 6 months for the last 11 years to monitor my PSA and ED. He has always had time to talk and explain, with both patience and humor. Requiescat in pacem.

I am without words for the tragic loss today of Dr. Gilbert. I have only known him for a short time but I truly was indebted to him. He took me in as an emergency patient and was my savior. He was so personable so kind and so caring to me. My heart goes out to his family and the staff of Orange Coast Urology. You are all in my prayers and I wish you strength in the days to come.
