I have had several surgeries in the past decade. And needed to have an emergency surgery related to endometriosis. I was forced to have with Heller. This was hands down the single worst experience of my entire life. He completely butchered and disfigured my body. I'm a thin 34 year old woman and I can never show my abdomen to another person again for the rest of my life. I had been assured before my surgery that I would be left with a half inch, nearly invisible scar that would be hidden and that it would be sewn. When I awoke from surgery, I had a deep 12 inch gash going from the inside of my belly button all the way down to my pelvis. He closed the incision with 14 staples. He didn't even line up both sides of the incision correctly and I now have one lump on one side of my stomach that is two inches lower than the other side. This scar is so incredibly disfigured and ugly that people gawk at me the few times I have ever tried to wear a bathing suit. I actually had a person ask me if I had been attacked, and he meant it seriously. He removed my ovary when I specifically requested that it not be removed. And he took my appendix just because he felt like it and without prior consent. He REFUSED to meet with me before the surgery. After I awoke, in tears, I begged the nurses to contact him to come and speak with me at Morristown memorial. They told me that he refused to make the effort to make the trip to the hospital to meet with me. I persisted and demanded he come in. When he finally came in - and by coming in, I mean that he merely cracked the door open to my room, stuck his head in and said "What do you want?!" As I lay in bed crying, begging him for an explanation as to why he disfigured my body, he screamed at me and said, "I did what I felt was necessary, regardless of your direction." I was sobbing and said "How could you do this to me?! How could you?" He had removed my right ovary, against my will, and disfigured me for life. His response was "Your other remaining left ovary and Fallopian tube showed no signs of endometrial tissue damage and because of that your fertility remains intact." Still sobbing, I asked him for more information. His response was "I don't need this f**king sh*t!!! I have better things to do!!!" He then slammed the door shut and left. I never saw or spoke with him again. He didn't even follow up with me after the surgery. 4 years later - this past week - I met with a wonderful surgeon who had preformed one of my previous surgeries. I had him perform an exploratory surgery to evaluate my remaining ovary. He said that my remaining ovary shows so much endometrial tissue damage that had clearly been building up for the better part of a decade and had breached my remaining fallopian several years ago, and well before my surgery with Paul Heller. He told me that it was very clear that Heller just wanted to cut into me and that he most definitely lied to me about my fertility being intact. Since the statue of limitations had run out on suing him for the aforementioned incidents, I thought I had no recourse. My new surgeon - one of the most highly respected fertility specialist and endocrinologists in the country - as well as the attorney I just hired, have both informed me of a NJ law that resets the statute of limitations if you discover malpractice has occurred after the fact. It's called Date Of Discovery. I will now be suing Dr. Heller for robbing me of my fertility. He lied directly to my face. I hope he reads this. And he better start lawyering up because I've just retained the #1 Medical Malpractice Lawyer in the state. This man is a monster. And I will post this review everywhere on the Internet that I can, in addition to having my friend write a piece about his unethical practices on a very highly read online news publication. This man stole my fertility and instead of discussing it with me told me "I don't need to deal with this F*@&ing Sh*t." I will do everything in my power to ensure that no woman is ever again subjected to this monster. Dr. Heller - you should be ashamed of yourself. You stole my right to ever have a baby of my very own and you disfigured me and couldn't even check on me. You're a monster.

Dr Heller was very good at keeping me calm during my first office visit with him. He was very blunt and straight forward and didn't sugar coat anything - which is how it should be. Slightly rough during the examination but was very informative and helpful.

He is an excellent doctor with a lot of experience. You can trust his judgement, and he'll do everything he can to get you through your surgery and fears. yes, no sugar coating, but you'll get an extremely competent person by your side. My highest recommendation to Dr. Heller.

Dr. Heller is fantastic. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and an excellent surgeon. He answered all my questions and demonstrated patience and care esp when I was freaking out right before my surgery. During my initial consultation, he provided all my options and explained the pros and cons of each which guided my choice of the surgical method used. While others may find his bedside manners less than stellar, I found him to be charming esp when you get to know him. Additionally, the incision is very neat & straight compared to other women that I know who have had similar surgeries. My other doctors even commented that it was "beautiful work" under the circumstances.

This doctor should not be allowed near a patient. Putting aside the no bedside manner issue, his examinations of me were rough and bordered on abusive. I refused to continue as his patient after the first surgical follow-up office visit and asked to see another physician within the group. I can be grateful the tumor I had was removed successfully, but I would not wish this man - or the experience I had with him - on any woman.

Dr. Heller is an amazing man with so much experience. Thanks to his knowledge and aggressiveness, I survived ovarian cancer - he definitely saved my life. I agree, he may not have the best bedside manor all the time but once you get to know him and understand his humor..you'll love him. All in all, Dr. Heller turned out to be compassionate. He was also very patient and always willing to answer my questions and my family's. I am forever greatful to Dr. Heller!
