i had to have 'EMERGENCY" SURGERY, WHICH WAS REALLY NOT NECESSARY. IT COULD HAVE BEEN PUT OFF TO MID WEEK. I HAVE HAD BOTH KNEES REPLACED IN DC AND THEY KNEW THIS. THEY KNEW I HAD RHEUMATOID ARTH. SO, AFTER ALMOST 24 HOURS, THEY ELECTED TO OPERATE ON ME, AND HE AND HIS PA'S THOUGHT THAT I DIDNT NEED A WHOLE HIP SURGERY. SO, THEY ONLY REPLACED MY BALL JOINT AND NOT THE SOCKET. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO GO TO BEAUFORT CO. HOSPITAL. THE AMBULANCE WOULD NOT TAKE ME TO GREENVILLE, WHERE I WANTED TO GO. THE AMBULANCE THAT I RODE IN BELONGED TO THE HOSPITAL AND THEY WERE RENTING IT AS THE OTHER ONE BLEW UP THAT THE CITY OWNED. IT MY SURGERY WAS THE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST. I DIDNT SEE ANYONE UNTIL NOVEMBER. I HAD HOME HEALTH CARE FOR 10 DAYS. HOWEVER, IN DECEMBER MY LEG STARTED TO HURT. I GO BACK IN MARCH, AND THEY TELL ME THAT I NEED THE SOCKET DONE. WHY INVADE A LEG AGAIN , WHEN SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE THE FIRST TIME. THE HOSPITAL TURNS OFF THE AC AT NIGHT TO SAVE MONEY. I WOKE UP SWEATING

Dr. Birdsong has a very competent PA working with him and I feel comfortable seeing either of them. Dr. Birdsong is never in too much of a hurry to listen to my concerns and has always been "right on" with his diagnoses. His surgical skills are remarkable, not only in his speciality, which is hand surgery, but also in total joints. I have friends who have had him do their hips and knees and their recovery has been nothing short of amazing.
