Dr Hong is the supervisor for Dorit Breiter, and I personally have never met nor seen him in the 4 years I have been a patient at NPI. With that said, I do not have faith in him as a professional who over sees people who treat patients.
I have been a patient the Neuropsychiatric Institute since 2016 and have seen the same "doctor" for the entire period, Dr Dorit Breiter, who is not technically a doctor, but she has quite a few letters after her name. I mention her not being a doctor because the office staff all refer to her as doctor, which is misleading to the patients.
I am a very easy patient, I am treated for ADHD, my appointments generally last less than 10 minutes, I have been prescribed the same single medication and same dosage for years, and the gist of the "care" that Dr Dorit Breiter provides is "medication still working and are you using the same pharmacy? See you next time."
Every appointment I have had, I have waited at least 30 minutes to an hour past the scheduled appointment time to see Dr Dorit Breiter. That's not mentioning the times she has canceled our appointment and I show up to the front desk to be told "Sorry, someone was supposed to contact you to reschedule." I must take off work by using vacation time or hire a babysitter in the afternoons to make these appointments. This is a cost I unfortunately accept in order to see a "care provider."
Yesterday I had an appointment set for 3:45pm on a Wednesday (which on arrival had an nearly empty lobby), while I called 30 minutes ahead of time to say I may be 10 minutes late, the front desk told me "no problem, and thank you for calling ahead." I signed in exactly 6 minutes late at 3:51pm.
I waited in the front lobby room for 20 minutes, then I am told to go to the back waiting room for which I waited another 10 minutes, before being called to the pay window to be told I am too late for my appointment today. I am then informed that I may come back the following day to see Dr Dorit Breiter, but I would first need to pay a fee of $50.00 for missing the appointment.
With that said, had the front desk informed me that I would not be seen or if I had signed in later than the 10 minutes I called ahead about, I would have totally understood her canceling my appointment, and would have paid the fee without issue.
I am a single father with 50/50 custody and travel for work 50% of the time. I have expressed my difficulties with being able to make it to these appointments in the past (since 2016 mind you) and have always canceled/paid the fees in advance, but Dr Dorit Breiter really doesn't care about that. She clearly isn't a care professional. She was not even present during this cancellation, and the Office Manager Jesus Rojas had no idea where she was nor what her exact reasons were for canceling me, other than he "assumed" it would have shifted time in her schedule, of which our normal appointments last less than 10 minutes. There were 3 people in the lobby when I arrived, and after wasting an hour and a half of my life waiting and talking to the Office Manager Jesus Rojas, there was 1 person in the lobby when I walked out.
The amount of money they get from not only me, but my insurance too, is absurd and insulting for the amount of quality care I actually received.
I am very thankful I did not have a severe issue to address, but I imagined being patient at their wits end, whose's last appointment was canceled and rescheduled via voice mail while on a business trip, needing to desperately see their care professional of 4 years, and then being treated the same way.
If you're a working adult and looking for ADHD treatment or other form of mental health care, I would not recommend this facility, and strongly recommend avoiding any care provider who would so easily dismiss their patients.
There is no CARE at the Neuropsychiatric Institute of Tampa.
