I think she is a good doctor, probably a great one in most instances but as my Vbac got closer I felt like she was less and less helpful. I started to feel like I was being "allowed" to Vbac and it was not really going to be facilitated. I switched physicians to one that advocates for Vbac instead. I do think she has a great bedside manner and she is a very caring individual, she just was not for me. I think that the trust between us was broken as we gradually discussed a lot of the rules I would be subjected to in order to be able to tolac, some of which I felt were going to statistically increase my chance of repeat c-section...and the studies back me up. If I was not a good Vbac candidate I would have been fine with the restrictions but our encounters just left me feeling very frustrated and powerless so I left her.

Dr. Snell is a wonderful surgeon. When I was scared and had a tumor that had enveloped an ovary, I went into surgery not sure whether or not it was malignant or if I would wake up to find I'd had a full hysterectomy. When I woke up, Dr Snell had already gotten back results from pathology so she could let me know everything was benign. She then proceeded to tell me that although I lost an ovary, she had re-routed the fallopian tube to the other ovary to increase my chances for getting pregnant again. She was amazing and she really does take time to let you know your health is important to her.

My first pregnancy was with a midwife and everything was a breeze. My second pregnancy was complicated, scary, and in the end unsuccessful with resulting loss of the baby. I was very happy with Dr. Snell, she got me right in to see her when things weren't going well with preggo #2. I needed an excellent OB, my life was in danger, and in my opinion she was the best out there. She sat down with me when things weren't going well and counselled me on what difficulties could come up soon and that I may have to choose risky heroics to save the baby. Her and Dr. Laughead are an awesome team and they kept me alive. I am lucky to have had such great OBs taking care of me in that scary pregnancy. I wish everything had turned out better, but I guess I was in that less that 1% of third trimester catastrophies. I plan getting pregnant again, I'm glad to have made it out of the hospital in one piece, she cares alot about her patients and that matters.
