Dr. Nachwalter was my second opinion after highly invasive spinal surgery, including fusion, was recommended for an L4-5 herniated disc. He performed a microdiscectomy and 6 weeks post-op I am virtually pain free and ready to start PT. He is no-nonsense and extremely knowledgeable and he spends the time to explain the procedures and answer questions. His determination of "less surgery is more", for me was exactly the correct choice. Further, his staff couldn't have been more helpful and easy to deal with. Shout out to you, Debbie - your pre- and post-surgery advice was perfect! I am very grateful that I found Dr. Nachwalter and his staff and highly recommend them.

I’m 3 months post two level ACDF. I had bilateral arm pain that became constant and was excruciating at times. Nothing helped. Multiple providers recommended Dr. Nachwalter so I felt confident in trusting him. Surgery isn’t fun but my arms have been better from the moment I opened my eyes after surgery. I couldn’t believe it. No more nerve pain. I sleep all night. I haven’t taken anything for pain since ten days post-op and after day seven I only used over the counter acetaminophen. The surgery wasn’t bad. I wish I had moved forward with it sooner. If my degenerating spine needs additional care I will absolutely see Dr. Nachwalter. He and his entire staff are efficient and professional as well as kind and responsive. I couldn’t be happier. If you’re reading this you’re probably in pain. Hang in there and trust Dr. Nachwalter.

I love Dr. Nachwalter, he listened to me and my concerns about what my options were, as to fixing my herniated disk in my neck. I chose the surgery and he made my decision very easy, I felt comfortable and at ease that I made the right decision. I am pleased with the decision I made and I felt confident and comfortable knowing I was in good hands. I was explained to as how things were going to be done, I was a little nervous about it in the beginning, but 100% glad I had the surgery done, I have my life back, and no more pain or migraines. I would do it again!

Dr. Nachwalter, including all of his medical team, made navigating surgical options for my back pain much easier than most other healthcare experiences I've had. He was upfront and honest about the risks and benefits of the procedure, he (or his medical team) was available for multiple follow-up calls due to concerns I had, and he made every effort to explain the procedure in simple to understand language. Following the laminectomy (I had severe disc degeneration of my lumbar spine), I was almost immediately feeling better and able to start doing the things I love again (fishing, cutting firewood). Very thankful for his service and support and would highly recommend a consultation with him if you have back pain.

In September of 2001, I broke my neck (C5). I was paralyzed from the neck down. I can and will honestly say if it was not for Dr. Nachwalter I would have been paralyzed for the rest of my life. He performed a spinal fusion on me and from there I remained in the hospital for the next 3 months. I was told I probably would never walk again at the age of 19. Dr. Nachwalter not only performed the surgery, but he also came to the hospital to check on me. He continued to check on me over time just to see if I was making any progress. After being told I may never walk again I was back on feet finally. It is going on 22 years, and I am living my best life. If it was not for the great job Dr. Nachwalter did I don't know what or where I would be today. This man saved my life, and I am so grateful that he was there in my time of need. If you are looking for a doctor that is kind, compassionate, and excellent at what he does I would definitely recommend Dr. Richard Nachwalter. So, look no further because Richard Nachwalter is the doctor for you. I said it a million times but thank you again Dr. Nachwalter!!!

In June 2022, I suffered a disc extrusion in my L3/L4 spine a month after having back surgery. My surgeon wanted me to immediately undergo a second operation (disectomy and spinal fusion) to correct it. Uncomfortable with the thought of going through another procedure, I got a second opinion from Dr Nachwalter. After he examined my condition, he recommended that I pursue non-surgical measures based on his experience, knowledge, and of back injury healing statistics as many extrusions reabsorb over time, healing themselves. Over the course of several months and with his diligent monitoring, my condition improved to the point where my extrusion has now re-absorbed and I do not need another surgery. I'm very grateful to Dr Nachwalter for his calming bedside manner, his expertise, and his monitoring of my improving condition over time. Thankfully, I didn't need his service for a second surgery, but if I needed to, he’d be the one that I'd choose.

Dr. Richard Nachwalter is a gifted and talented surgeon who performed my back surgery over 21 years ago. I recently had to make an appointment with him expressing a new concern and he was nothing but kind, compassionate, informative, and thorough. His foremost thought was my well being and immediately formulated a care plan for my condition, which only needed physical therapy. I highly recommend Dr. Nachwalter as a spine specialist.

Excellent care! Within 30 min of a phone call from another Dr. I was seeing, I was sitting in Dr. Nachwalter's office. I was suffering from severe pain, weakness in my left leg and drop foot. The months prior to my visit had been miserable. Dr. Nachwalter listened to my concerns, provided a thorough examination, took his own X-rays in office and within 15 minutes provided a diagnosis which was an L4-5 disc herniation which, he would find, was pressing on the nerve root. In less then 2 weeks I was scheduled for surgery . Surgery was a complete success. The pain was immediately gone when I woke up. I am 6 weeks post-op and still under his care until I can resume normal activity. I owe him a debt of gratitude for undoubtedly giving me back a pain free life.
