Dr. Thurman is great. He "gets" his patients. If he did not have a correct answer, he was always humble enough to say he did not have that knowledge, but he would investigate to find the best information available. He makes sure his patients understand what is going on in their bodies. He teaches his patients.

I truly hope he is able to train another doctor to take his place, to perpetuate the epitome of a doctor. He even understands that certain digestive issues cause pain. During his physical exams, he would always treat that area with respect, avoiding aggravating the tender areas.

Who could ask more of a doctor? If I ever have to move away, I think I would just have to travel a ways just to make sure I was in good, kind, and caring hands.

Office visit handled by PA, not the doctor. IMPOSSIBLE to get through the ridiculous phone menus when trying to get through to ANYONE in the doctor's office. Phone messages left on ANSWER MACHINE were not returned. Very poor experience.

Dr. Thurman has a great understanding of the pancreas. He has always explained things to me, even when other doctors have refused. Dr. Thurman has also been receptive of alternative therapies, and after listening to me, he has gently explained his position for certain types of treatments. He has also encouraged some of my thoughts on better treatment. I highly recommend him to anybody with any type of a pancreatic problem. He also respects my body when I have told him that I was in too much pain, so don/'t poke around too much. When my liver enzymes were elevated, and I was in excruciating pain, he stayed late on a Friday night to do an ERCP, instead of making me wait until the following Monday. The problem was corrected during the ERCP. I can say nothing but good things about Dr. Thurman. I have always felt that he was my partner in getting healthy. He never made feel inadequate about my medical knowledge. I drive from Dallas to Houston. He is still a very valued docto
