Uuh..I thought I was the only one who had a BAD experience with this doctor. Read the 1st review below and I totally agree how he behaves with elderly patients. This doctor did not answer his phone two days in a row when the nurses urgently contacted him during night (because he was on call physician for this patient) when the post surgery patient had medical problems. The nurses had to get hold of surgeons. When asked by surgeons and the nurse next day, he said that he never got any calls (???)...a lie!! Also the way he talked to the patient was very rude, and abrupt. Total lack of any compassion. He just did not care. For rating him here I had to pick at least 1 star, and he deserves zero. He should not be assigned as an on call doctor by Long Beach Memorial Hospital.

I found Dr. Lake when I was a Patient in intensive care. I believe that if not for Dr. Lake's attentiveness I would be dead today. I have always been treated with respect and I am never hurried when I am in his office. Dr. Lake is always aware of new findings in medicine. I have been well taken care of.

Dr lake was appropriately attentive, facilitated my referral to another office while I was still sitting there and took his time to make sure I felt comfortable sharing any concerns with him. I needed to wait a little, but then, he totally took his time with me, so I do not begrudge the time he spent with other patients.

Especially if you are older or your mom or dad or any older relative are seeing Dr. Steven Lake STOP see someone else. Dr. Lake just looks at older people like they are getting old they are just going to die and he sits back does nothing and lets them die. Dr. Lake does not send his patients to specialists when needed, he does not order tests to see if something else is going on until it's too late. He does not send patients to specialists he tries to treat the patient himself when he's only a GP. In my relatives case Dr. Lake was told by the patient "I just feel so tired, I just don't feel good) over and over, this was said to Dr. Lake over a couple of years. How hard would it be for Dr. Lake to say well lets run a few tests and see if something else is going on. He never did that, turns out the patient had a serious illness, if caught and treated the patient would still be alive today.
