Dr. Herbstman may act nice, but he clearly shows what he truly thinks of his patients by making them wait for hours. This doesn't just happen once in a while, but every single time. Others blame his staff for over scheduling and causing the wait times of several hours, but the Dr. is in charge of the office and he would fix this terrible problem if he really cared at all about his patients.

This doctor is one of the best gastroenterologist I have seen (I have seen many, i.e., Rush Presbyterian, Northwestern Hospital and University of Chicago) and he spends a lot of time with you, is very thorough and truly cares about his patients. I had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy done and he is a very sweet and compassionate doctor as far as your comfort and pain are concerned. The only down side is that whenever I have an appt. I never get in to see him on time. My last three appts with him I waited over three hours to see him. I think his staff overschedules him, as he spends a significant amount of time with his patients and therefore ends up running very late. I would however, recommend him to anyone that is looking for a good, thorough gastroenterologist.

I've had two procedures with him and he had the bedside manner of a good family doctor - caring and friendly. Made an unpleasant procedure totally painless. Seemed very knowledgeable.
