Dr Reitz operated on my infant daughter 21 years ago, and I've been grateful ever since. He was much more attentive than the other surgeon we could have chosen, given the scope each covered in our interviews. He gave us personal attention, checked on her personally every day and was accessible to us . For the date, her surgery was very risky. Dr Reitz reassured us, was confident but not cocky, and humble enough to answer even my young naive insulting questions. The cardiologists praised him and his work at our every meeting thereafter. My daughter still to this day has a perfect repair from her AV Canal. I couldn't speak more highly of him and I couldnt be more grateful. My family will never forget him.

in 2000,dr reitz performed my aortic valve surgery at stanford hospital. because of his surgery my heart was infected with several bacteria including staph and e.coli. i had multiple near death episodes of septic shock. i was discharged from the hospital with a raw thumb size hole through the center of my chest. reitz pushed for using the st jude mechanical valve which has a pronounced thumping noise all the time. in 2005, i had a massive brain stroke that was claimed to be caused by a blood clot from the st jude valve. i am now severely paralyzed and mentally unstable, and a huge burden to my wife and family. martin mckendrick,la quinta,ca.

Dr. Reitz is head of the heart and heart/lung transplant department at Stanford Hospital. He is an amazing surgeon and the most compassionate man I've ever met. He is very patient oriented and will spend whatever amount of time is necessary to answer all the patient's questions and put them at ease. He is one of those people who instantly makes you feel that everything will be okay the minute he walks in the room. I cannot say enough good things about him. I truly feel as if God works through his hands. If you or a loved one needs a new heart or lungs then Dr. Reitz is the surgeon you want to do it. You will be in the best possible surgical hands with the best possible after-surgical care team.
