Was not very happy with Dr. Smith. He was very slow to respond to my problems with swollowing and would never return calls although his receptionist told me personally "the doctor will call you". That was a year ago and I'm still waiting for his call. I finally decided to drop this doctor and found another one. I had acid reflux surgery and was symtom free in 6 weeks.

Dr. Smith is an AWESOME G.I. Doctor. After going to about 5 different doctors and living in pain day after day with Chron's. Dr. Smith FINALLY got me in to his busy office (go figure with good work, return customers :) ) and the next day I was having a colon scope done so HE personally could see what was going on.... within 2 weeks I felt GREAT with his aggressive and active treatment plan! I Still feel wonderful and call then with questions and get a return call promptly. The receptionist is kinda a hag but who cares the DOCTOR is the one you are there to see not her..... I LOVE doctor smith he saved my life from PAIN and I pray he is around for MANY MANY MANY more years as I am only 22.

I have never had an issue with phone calls being returned from Dr. Smith's Overland Park office. The Dr. himself has even returned my calls. The office under went staff changes in late 09 early 2010 and is still adjusting. Even during this time the care was great.

The worst, most impolite receptionist I have ever met. The doctor was more interested in money than in providing quality care to the patient and kept on pushing for more expensive tests and painful procedures. He even kept commenting that "that's where the money is". No one in his office (including the doctor) had the time to return our phone calls, and we were left feeling that the patient did not matter, it was just the pocket book that was of any interest to him. I would NEVER EVER GO TO THIS DOCTOR AGAIN!

I was a patient of Dr. Smith's for roughly a year and a half. Dr. Smith was very unhelpful and his nurse Jenny was very unprofessional. It took them days and sometimes more than a week to return a phone call. Many times Dr. Smith was unprepared for my appointments and only spent about 5 minutes with me although I had waited 45+ minutes on several occasions. The customer service at this office is a joke. I am a UC patient and was in pain for several days before any action was taken by the office. Even calling in a prescription became a hassle for them. I would highly recommend if you care about your health or the health of a loved one that you find another office. I was referred to this office by another physician and made sure that he does not refer anyone to this office again.

I was completely confused as to what was wrong with me and Dr. Smith was very helpful. He took the time to explain in detail and assured me I was going to be fine in time. My colon had stopped working and he told me exactly what to do and it started working again. In the meantime, he asked his staff to arrange a test to be done which they did. When I returned for my follow-up appointment he explained what was found and said he wanted to see me in one year. He told me what he expected to find at that time and if not, he told me he would want to remove my gallbladder. I'd never met him before this experience but he made me feel like my health was important to him and I would recommend him to anyone needing the type of treatment he provides.

Amazing Gastro who saved my life, very caring and listens. Never treats a paitent like number. Treats aggressive insttead of passive on serious conditions.
